Would this be good to lubricate as well as a cleaner, and rust inhibitor? I've been using CLP and decided to order some eezox to try. Also, will it work on the slide of my M&P 40 or should a light coat of grease be used on the slide instead? All advice is appreciated! I also, planned to use it on my Ruger MKIII 22LR Pistol as well as my bolt actions...Thanks! :)

I love eezox as a rust inhibitor, but I don't have enough confidence in it's properties as a lubricant to trust it in that application. Every gun I own gets an eezox treatment, but then all the sliding/rotating parts get a thin layer of grease.

agreed that's exactly how I use it.

Agreed.

As a long-term protectant, yes.
As a lube, no.

I have been testing several common protectants for about half a year now, and Safariland brand CLP has beat EEzox in my tests as a rust inhibitor. It also works as a great lubricant.

Agree with the use of others. I would add that although I like it, Eezox runs my family out of the house. They also know instantly when I've used it, it smells so bad to them.

When I first bought Eezox, it was because of its abilities as a rust preventative/protectant.
I used it as a CLP for a time and have no problems with its qualities as a cleaner and a lubricant.

Except that it is both hard to find (internet ordering only for me) and pricy.

So in time, I came to use it as a protectant, for guns that spend most of their time in the safe.

For my weekly shooters...they work fine with Eezox as a CLP, but I can't afford to burn up an $18-20 can per month...so they live on Ed's Red week-to-week, and if they are going to sit for a while, they get the Eezox treatment.

..Safariland brand CLP has beat EEzox in my tests as a rust inhibitor...
Not calling BS (yet) but I'll have to see some reasonably conclusive evidence before I buy this. I've seen too many tests where Eezox wins outright. Not to say that it will forever...just that it's going to take some doing to convince me. Fire away.

I also use Eezox as a cleaner and rust inhibitor. As far as a lube goes, I tend to use Militec-1 as my dry lube. But whether Eezox or Militec, I always put a little bit of wet lube on the rails. In the past I have used Eezox on my Seecamp and I can report the gun functioned just fine. It works. It's just hard to leave a gun dry... old habits.

I received my order of Eezox and now, I've been reading that Frog Lube is some really good stuff Anyone tried it? Thanks! :)

I use it as a rust inhibitor, It works a little better than Breakfree CLP for storage IMHO, not much but a little. I would not rely on it as a lube and its kind of expensive to use as a cleaner. Hppes Elite (formerly Miltec) is a better cleaner and carbon cutter and its non toxic, no smell. Regular hoppes 9 is better at cutting plastic wad fouling in my shotguns than eezox.

I've been using Eezox since it came out and it may offer the best rust/corrosion protection of any product on the market. i use it on the exteriors of all my guns for storage. I haven't tried it as a lube. I prefer a good quality light gun oil like Weapon Shield or Breakfree CLP for lubrication.

I use it on my Seecamps and it works fine. Seecamp recommends it for their pistols, so I figure they know what they're talking about.

Where are you guys getting your Eezox. I have a distributor close, but he won't answer emails or phone messages.

If I recall correctly, I think I remember reading that Larry uses a mixture of Eezox and Militec... both dry lubes. long time ago, so I could be mistaken.

I used it to spray up a Mosin M44 probably 5 or 6 years ago? I used that gun as a trunk gun for about a year Just left it in the trunk for about year with no care and no reapplication. Here in New England that means over 100F and humid in the summer down to occasional subzero temps in the winter. Took it to the range and all parts still felt slick, worked perfectly, no binding, no rust, no nothing. It just plain worked.
And yeah i know it's a Mosin and should work no matter what, but that Eezox lubed and prevented corrosion very nicely.

As far as a, cleaner goes I've found the penetrating oil kano kroil to be the best I've ever used. It really cuts through crud and makes cleaning so much easier. As far as protectants for rust go I use nothing but Eezox. Its never failed me yet and I've got no Rusty guns.

I've used Eezox as a CLP. When it dries it feels waxy and slick, when it heats up it becomes a liquid again. For Pocket carry Eezox is great as it doesn't attract lint.

Like noted above I use Ed's Red for cleaning and a synthetic 10W30 for lube. Never had an issue.

Using eezox on a patch after regular cleaning gave me a black patch. A few more patches and they came clean. Cleaned the bore after the bore was already (I thought) clean. But turned to glue on guns stored for a year or two. I don't use it any more.

Great rust inhibitor. I have had the same gun rust with clp, fp10, and others....put eezox on it and problem solved. I really only use it on guns that are going to be say...a pocket carry gun or IWB gun in the summer. It works great for that...not very good as a lubricant though.

I've used Birchwood Casey Barricade as a rust preventive for years and my gun cabinet is in my laundry room. It has worked great for me. I also use Mobile 1 on my M&Ps (all my weapons for that matter). Its a great lubricant and its much cheaper than just about any gun lube.
