(Atlanta, Monday, July 19) -- Crucial state and federal elections will be held in Georgia on Tuesday, July 20, and the results will determine many of the key leaders defending your gun rights for the next 2 years or longer.
Regardless of your political party affiliation, it's vital that you go to the polls Tuesday and vote in the Republican primary election. Here's why:
U.S. Senate
Anti-gunners (both Democrat and Republican) have gained a majority in the U.S. Senate in Washington, opening the door for more federal gun control to be forced on you and other citizens following the Presidential elections in November.
U.S. Sen. Zell Miller is retiring. The winner of the Republican primary election will almost certainly be his replacement.
Anti-gun Johnny Isakson of Marietta has raised the most money in this crucial U.S. Senate race, but he may not get enough votes to win outright because he is too liberal for most Georgians. Mr. Isakson is close to the Democrat party bosses who used to run the state. They want to keep their influence, in the face of a statewide Republican takeover, by secretly backing frontmen who will do their bidding, like Mr. Isakson.
As U.S. Rep. for Georgia's 6th Congressional district, Mr. Isakson proved himself an enemy of your gun rights by repeatedly voting for the federal triggerlock mandate: the big step towards making you lock away your guns so they're not ready for self-defense or else face confiscation.
Mr. Isakson is the only Republican congressman from Georgia who repeatedly voted for gun control with Democrat Reps. John Lewis and Cynthia McKinney in past years.
If Mr. Isakson gets in the U.S. Senate, you can bet he'll be working with Dianne Feinstein and Teddy Kennedy against your right to keep and bear arms. If Mr. Isakson fails to win outright, then he'll probably lose the run-off.
Running against Mr. Isakson are pro-gun Congressman Mac Collins of Hampton and gun rights compromiser Herman Cain of McDonough.
Rep. Mac Collins has already proven himself. He has the best pro-gun record of any Georgian in the U.S. House. Mac Collins is also known to be the most conservative member of the Georgia Congressional delegation.
On the other hand, Mr. Cain is known to be a clone of moderate U.S. President George W. Bush, who supports the federal triggerlock mandate and the current federal semi-automatic gun ban. Mr. Bush is waiting until after November to compromise your gun rights because he knows he probably won't get re-elected if he does it now. If Mr. Cain gets elected, he'll be helping Mr. Bush with his scheme.
Mr. Cain claims he's for guns, but a close look at his position shows he's not against the the federal triggerlock mandate or the current federal semi-automatic gun ban. Mr. Cain has fooled a lot of people by hiding his full position on guns. Even worse, Mr. Cain refused to return his CSG Gun Owners Candidate Questionnaire. In 15 years of fighting gun control in Georgia, we have NEVER seen a true pro-gun candidate refuse to return their CSG gun owners survey. Mr. Cain refused. That's bad news.
U.S. House Race Summary
