I wouldn't think it would be practical. The cheapy ones wouldn't have enough power or longivity and I'm not sure how long the brushes would hold up to cleaning solvents. For the price of a high dollar one you could go to Harbor fright and buy a small parts washer and have a really useful tool.
billy Mays was shucking some a "super scrubber" last year on TV, pretty much an electric tooth brush with a larger scrubbing head. Supposed to clean grout line like a breeze, don't know about star chambers.
I also thought about this. I would use the slower-speed vibrating ones vs. those high-speed ultrasonic ones. I think it would work great. I use a standard toothbrush to scrub lots of gun parts and clean grips, using at times acetone, Hoppe's, and other nasty stuff. Just rinse the bristles when done and the I've had the same brush in service a few years now.
