emag or pmag for the scar 16?

I just picked up a scar 16 in trade, and the guy also traded me one for one on my pmags for his emags. He told me the pmags do not work in the scar, but I cannot find this info to be true. On the magpull website, it shows the emags as the exportable ones. What is the difference?

Emags are made for guns with tighter or longer magwells than an AR15. You don't have any Pmags already to try out? Emags cost a bit more, but are otherwise functionally equivalent.

I'd try the newest revision P-Mags before buying any E-Mags. The price difference is enough to try one P-Mag first.

Make sure you get the newest revision though. They are smaller than the older P-Mags.

I have heard experiences of people saying they will not drop free on the SCAR, and others saying there is no problem.

The general consensus is that the new p-mags work with the SCAR but not the old. A lot of people just shaved down the two bumps on the back of the old P-mags, that was the only thing keeping them from dropping free.

I run P-mags and Lancers out of my SCAR, never a problem with function.

I hear some of the older P-mags will not drop free,but I've never experienced it. However that'd be the worst problem you encounter.

Run whatever mags you want, the 16 will take it and ask for more.
