I am so sorry that we haven't even called you to wish you a happy birthday! Our schedule is just overwhelming at times. Yesterday, it was 8:30 before we even got to think about dinner.
And what a shameful way to treat one of our favorite sons - one who has brought joy, pride, and honor to us. We love you dearly and would not forget your birthday ever. It was a special day when you were born. You were a dear baby and have grown into a dear man. We love you lots. We are proud of the man you are.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY .... and we'll do it properly yet! (working at a church is good in many ways, but consumes your life in other ways!) (and the other way that it's good is that it's pretty secure ... now, whether pay could be cut or not is something else! Let's hope not!)

And to make it gun discussion appropriate - My Dad and I go to the range together quite often. He likes shooting my .308 bolt action and hitting 8" targets at 600 yards.
(He is ex army sharp shooter.)
