I ordered 2 Mika pocket holsters (round & square) for my M&P340 S&W (J-frame). My order got messed up and I only received one holster (round). I sent him an email and he quickly replied, apologized, and said that he would get the other one out soon. When it didn't arrive I sent him another email asking about the status. I think this time had he plain forgotten to send it. He again replied right away, sent it out and sent me a tracking number. The "problem" is, he also sent me a complete refund for BOTH holsters! I didn't ask for (nor did I expect) any refund or other compensation. I'm speechless...

Everyone says he is such a gentleman and stands by his products. That is an understatement.

FYI: I love my Mika pocket holster. It is the only pocket holster I've found which conceals the gun so it doesn't print but also allows for a 1 hand reholster. It appears very durable and I expect to use it for a long time.

The issues are most likely due to his increased volume of sales. I know it was posted in the 642 club that he is planning some changes to help get orders out.

Seems like more than an upstanding gentleman.

This is the way Robert has always done things, Back a year or two when the wait time was one week I called in an order and somehow we got talking about this and that and spent over an hour on the phone. I have e-ordered from him since then and he still takes the time to write a response and let me know what's going on and why the wait time is now so much longer. He is an example of how business used to be conducted in this country and is a fine gentleman. He produces superior products and I recommend him without reservation.

And the legend grows! Fingers are crossed that my round-cut arrives in the mail tomorrow. I too have had the pleasure of a lengthy phone call and numerous emails with the Chief. A real gentleman producing a great product (or so I've read).

The Safariland I have conceals well, allows a one hand reholster and is also a great product. To be fair, I also own a Mika holster.

I had no intention to take advantage of him. I didn't ask for any special treatment or compensation. I didn't even complain. He direct deposited the refund into my paypal account on his own. Honest! Part of the reason I posted was to give him a plug because he went so far beyond what was needed. I've been thinking about getting a holster for another gun ... I think maybe I'll order it. At least that gives him some "makeup" business.

That would be a nice gesture. A simple thank you card and a food basket goes a long way as well.

I also have 3 of his holsters. I would NOT use anything other than a Mika holster for my J frames.

I'm about to order another for my M640.

*Edit*
To add the word I left out. Thank you for catching that "rainbowbob"!!

Anyone have experience with both the Mika and a Desantis Nemesis for a J Frame exposed hammer? I would like a comparison.

Yep. I've carried a Vintage Undercover and a Model 36 in both.

The Mika allows a smooth draw. The Nemesis has a folded over seam lip at the opening that catches the hammer. I'd go with the Mika.

While you're waiting for your Mika, pick up a Uncle Mike's #3. Less than $10 at Cabela's. It won't break up the print as much as the Mika, but exposed hammers won't snag on the opening either.

P95loser - Here's my take on the difference, used with the 642/442 only. The Mika has a looser fit and allows a full combat grip while still completely holstered, and always stays secured in your pocket during the draw. It has a reinforced mouth that allows easy one handed reholstering (an important consideration). The only drawback is that due to the above mentioned qualities it has limited gun retention, therefore I like it when wearing heavyweight or tight fitting pants that provide good support. The Nemesis is more of a tighter fitting holster that provides fair gun retention, but will not always stay in your pocket and requires you to "push off" with your trigger finger to draw, this precludes a full combat grip and it is a bit slower than the Mika and is harder to reholster. I do prefer the Nemesis when wearing very light dress pants. If I had to pick one it would be the Mika.

Don't mean to hijack the thread in a different direction, but what's the practical difference between the "round-cut" Mika and the "square-cut," and why choose one over the other?

Thanks,
Russell

I would assume the shape of your pockets and how you like your gun to sit. I had a pocket holster much like the "round cut" holster and in baggy blue jean pockets, it would tend to roll down where some repositioning would have to take place for a quick draw. A square cut would holt the gun upright and available easily in baggier pockets, but would bulge more in smaller slacks.

Hooray! I finally got my first Mika round-cut in the mail today. It is everything it was hyped to be and more.

I have been practicing my draw (unloaded) and try as I might - the holster just will not come with my snub. Not once. Not even in loose-fitting pants. And reholstering is as easy as putting it back in my pocket. The snub "finds" the holster every time. It is in my pocket now and probably will be for a very long time. My only problem now is I may have to buy a lighter snub than my Chief's Special. It's a little heavy for regular pocket carry.

If you want to pocket carry and you don't have a Mika - get one today! (Well, actually six weeks from today.)

I just got off the phone with Robert Mika, I ordered the round cut for my 642. $18.95 + $3 shipping. He said I should have it in about 3 weeks. And then he said if I like the holster, just drop him a check in the mail, and if I did not like it don`t worry about the money and just give it away to somebody! WOW!!! :D

I have been thinking about a Mika pocket holster. This speaks very highly of him, yet another reason to buy from him.
