I am thinking unflattering thoughts about farce that is DC law and and the monkeys masquerading as DC lawmakers.

That woman has gumption. An more cojones than most of the men in DC.

I am really glad she is drawing attention to this crazy process of LEGAL firearms ownership in our nations capital. I feel lucky I can buy a handgun and take it home with me.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really like how she refers to the "armed strangers" that she had to take the class from. Isn't that what we are? I don't think anyone on THR would go out and rape and pillage on a whim. And besides, she is joining our ranks! Seems a bit hypocritical. Am I just being overly sensitive?

She explains in the comments that it was the locale the shop was in that had her feeling apprehensive. She says the people in the shop and range were helpful and kind.

I read the entire series...I am just at a total loss of words.

I have spent a bit of time inside the beltway...and there are some areas that are...just flat scarry. It is just amazing they can get away with that....but move over into VA and it is easy...just flat crazy.

I first tried out the gun I’ve had my eye on since I started this odyssey, the Sig Sauer 229 in 9mm (see photo above). I’d shot my editor's 226 before, but it was hard to control. The store had the new E2 version which has a slimmer grip. I shot fairly well and definitely had more control than the larger one. (Click here to watch a short video of me shooting it.) I liked the way it looked too. But mostly, I like the Sig because it’s one of the guns that the SEALS used to kill Osama bin Laden.

The SIG P229 9mm was my first gun. I think I am in love with her. :D

Can anyone tell me at what point does regulation become infringement? :banghead:

I notice in the NRA video she said that originally she just intended to document going through this process and stop. Now, after the way she's been treated, she said she's going to continue working on this and not stop until the city council makes some better law and improves conditions in the District.

Good for you Emily!

And that is "Common Sense" gun law?

After reading what she has to go through to obtain a firearm in Washington DC, I can't see anything that even remotely appears to be "common" sense. That is a bureaucratic nightmare!

Hopefully she brings suit for personal damages.. lost wages, time, perhaps we could go on. Thankfully, medical or funeral bills have not been accrued.
Wasn't there that firebrand that just won against Honda?.. $10,000.alif-honda-lawsuit-could-be-model-for-other-civic-hybrid-owners/ Multiply that by one or thirty million (class action) and that's a fair bit of cash. And all hybrids are bankrolled by subsidies/us. Fishy smelling times. Sad.

I claim that DC has something like a gun ban going on, because it is just simply such a massive nuisance to get any sort of firearm there that it might as well be impossible.

And who lives there? Seems a lot of black folk. Seems like a lot of defacto racism going on there. They must now lie in the bed that they have lain.
Where is the ACLU in all of this?

Where is the ACLU in all of this?
One of their directors called me at SHOT, actually. ;)

Turns out quite a few of the folks there think that the 2nd amendment cases should be taken on as well. It's a long process, though.
