I picked up my new EMP on Thursday and have already put 500 rounds through it. I had one ejection problem during the first 50 rounds but since then it has been running well. The gun consistently shoots low though which is not a user error because I have had other people shoot it. I believe it is an ammo issue though.

So the first question is, what kind of ammo have you been using in your EMP?

I reload and was wondering if others have tried using reloads in their EMP? If so, how has it gone? Any suggestions? (No, I haven't put any reloads through the EMP yet)

Has anyone used a Crimson Trace grip yet on their EMP?

Congrats.. great gun

gg, bought one for the wife, and myself, some time back, and we shoot nothing but Winchester wb 115gr FMJ and Federal 115gr JHP's without any failures thru 1000 rounds so far.. just 100%

About the low shots, generally ammo at such close range isn't going effect point of aim hits..

With our gun, close out to 16ft, we dot the i (or cross the T) just above the top front sight, and at distance, 63ft, its put the front site on the target, and it's very very accurate..

No CT's on the EMP, but do have them on my Sig P229 9mm..

IMO, they are a great asset for point to shoot, with both eyes open, lase and blaze, and are deadly accurate shooting with both eyes open for far better all around SA..

They are very hard at first, because you will sight with one eye and chase the red dot.. But that is normal until you find them accurate, either as they are set, or you can adjust them..

Once you get beyond chasing the red dot, sighting them in for accuracy, and letting them humble your 2 hand grip steadiness, happens to everyone, then all you need do is raise the gun to just below the height you would eye sight from, head straight up, 2 hand grip, and learn not to jerk the shot, trying to hit the dot when it's dead on, but rather, when its close, or dead on, squeeze off each shot, and you'll learn how effective they are and see this.. :what: over and over..

Just start close, and work each distance-phase, step by step out with accuracy..

Enjoy

Ps.. also, if you're shooting your own reloads and shooting nothing but least expensive lead bullets, you may well have a lead build-up in the barrel.. could be the problem, as it doesn't take long for build-up to occur and bad results to happen.

And, I wouldn't let the fact that others have shot your gun with the same low results be the acid test at this time, as I have let a LOT of competent, and beginners, shoot ours, and have had mixed results, as both sides of the coin, competent and inexperienced, have shot very poorly, and very good, as it is a new or "different" gun to all and some get the hang of them real fast, others not the case, but "I" know the gun is deadly accurate, up close, or out to max range at our indoor range, of 63ft.

I dont own an EMP but I do like the fact thats its coming out in .40s&w, maybe try a few different brands of ammo and see if it helps. Also most of the reviews that I have read seem to say its a pretty accurate maybe a call to Springfield is in order.

Below is a pretty good review I found through Google.

A new member has their first post with good questions and nobody can help them? I dont normally bumb threads but I am hoping this one just got missed by some of the other EMP owners on the board.

I know all about electromagnetic pulse, which is what I thought the thread was about. Sorry, can't help with the questions. :)

I am using a ammo that has gotten a bad rap from who knows where. I have used thousands of rounds of this ammo in both .40 S&W and 9mm. I'm using it in my EMP at 115grain. I know the suspense is killing you. It's CCI Blazer Brass. I also like it because it fires clean, which makes clean up easier. I also use it in my Beretta 96, and Springfield XD9. I wouldn't tell Springfield that you are using reloads if you ever have a problem that requires you to send in for repair. Call Springfield Armory @ 1-800-680-6866. They are very nice people there in Geneseo Illinois. They will be glad to tell you the recommended ammo for you gun.

Mine shot high. I sent it back to Springfield and they put a higher front sight on it. Problem solved. Great little gun.
