I took my EMP out today. It was 56 degrees. Colder than I prefer with no sun. Oh well.
I shot about 150 to 175 rounds overall. 20 groups of 5 rounds each and some plinking/blasting. It fed, fired, and ejected without incident.
I shot two groups each of 10 loads. I shot Ranier 115 Gr. RN, Berr'ys 124 Gr. HP, Zero 125 Gr. JHP, Remington 124 Gr.GS with Bullseye, Blue Dot, AA # 2, AA # 5, Universal, W231, & N340.
AA # 5 is still my favorite with 115 Gr. bullets. I will see if WSF can better it. I am begining to like 124/5 Gr. bullets. I have shot 115 Gr. only for years. Like I have said, I have a hard time getting serious about the 9MM. I don't know why, it just doesn't "flic my bic".
The first thing I tried was some bowling pins at 30 yards. I hit a few and missed a few, but the misses were generally close. Outstanding, since before it was shooting high.
Then I shot two groups each with all 10 loads. All the loads were impacting a hair high, (right above sights, which I like) at 7 yards. I blew plenty of good groups. I would get 3 or 4 in a ragged cluster or very close to each other and then blow the group. It was my fault, not the guns. It was shooting real well. The EMP is really a bit small for my hands and even though it feels pretty good I have a hard time shooting little bug holes with it, even though it is capable. My CDP II is much easier for me to shoot well.
All in all it was very satisfying. The gun shot every time, ejected the brass in about a 3' X 4' "circle" about 4 feet to my right and a bit behind me. Real easy to pick up.
I will probably not keep this gun in the long run. I will come up with something I want and I'll let it go. It is very nice but it just doesn't make me want to hang on to it. I need a full sized 9 for range work. This pistol will never replace my CDP because it is a .45 and this is a 9MM. No, I won't argue the choice, nor will I blast anyone who chooses the 9MM. For those who like the 9MM this would be a wonderfull carry gun. I just HAD to have one of these, but the new has worn off and my eye is wandering. ( This is where guns have an edge on wives, it's OK to look around.) SHHHH, my sweetie is coming. No, I would not trade her for "all the gold in China" as my mother used to say.
