Hi All,

My 1st M1 Garand is on its way from the CMP, and I was wondering: Are all the enbloc clips pretty much the same, or should I buy a certain brand (SA)? Obviously looking for the most reliable/best operating on I can get.

Thanks!
TCW :)

Hmmm....

Good Question.

I buy all mine (currently have 12 of 'em) at a Military Surplus store. Cost me a buck a pop. Never noticed any manufacturer's marks on them. I suspect that they are actually military surplus enblocs. Never had a problem with them.

I have two from SA that came with the Springfield Armory M1 I bought. They aren't any better or worse than the ones I bought from the mil-surp store. AND I suspect they are probably just mil-surp too.

I certainly wouldn't buy the clips from SA. Don't know what they charge but I bet it's way more than a buck. You can probably find 'em online from any number of sources for cheap too.

YES!, there is a big differance. Try to only buy USGI. There are all kind of other en-blok clips out there made by 3rd world countrys that used Garands and they dont work half as well.

There's a Canadian-manufactured en-bloc, by Dominion, I think. It has a triangle on the bottom. They are completely worthless. They are somehow out of square, and don't accept the rounds well, and don't fit in the rifle.

I have several in a drawer. I don't know why I keep them.

Do not buy the cheapo chinese clips offered by TAPCO, they are junk!! Not a rant against TAPCO because I have and will continue to buy from them. But those clips are just junk. I'm sure they are sold by other companies as well.

I bought about halk of mine from a dealer an an outdoor show, and the rest came from Cheaper Than Dirt.

J&G sales has them 50 cents each. Nice USGI. I got like 100 from them. All work great.

The best place I have found to get good enbloc clips is to find someone who runs a club hi-power shooting team and buy a can (or three) of surplus USGI .30-06 already on the clips. But this might be getting harder and harder to find as it sells out.

Stick with USGI. I got mine from CMP clinics over the years and through sales of clipped USGI ammo. That's pretty much dried up now though. Try J&G sales. If those are really USGI, that's the best price I've seen lately.

FWIW, I've found the Danish clips to be as good as USGI, but they (along with Danish .30-06) are hard to find now.

I bought 300 of the ones from J&G and they are assorted surplus G.I. clips. I just got 300 of them to get the price break. TCW where in the PRK are you??
