Encouraging New Gun Owners Through Mosin-Nagant

Hey, for what it's worth I have since learned that you can use trail boss powder to make mosin ammo that is just as little recoil as a 22 LR. For that, use a 110 grain 308 bullet. 12 grains of trail boss. Amazing. I calculated correction measured 1700 ft./s, 650 foot-pounds

Well done!

Taking and active lead in sharing our interest in firearms with those unfamiliar with them and then actually putting them in their hands and on the range is a great way to teach people that the Antis have it wrong.

Schedule a showing of Enemy At The Gates or Winter War for them so they can see the historical context of the rifle and generate interest in historic firearms, studying the history, and shooting them.

Great job.

I agree!

I try to bring as many people into the fold as I can, especially young people. I've found that very few will turn down the chance to go shooting, even those that think they don't like guns.

This is what it's going to take guys. Those of us that grew up at a time when being pro gun was a given, don't realize the pressure put on the young folks from the other side. $20 bucks worth of ammo can go a long way towards undoing that.

I am in complete agreement with everything you have said. My problem is having a place to go shoot with a kid. Indoor ranges, at least the ones in my area, have an age restriction of anywhere from 13 to 16.

Granted, you have to start somewhere, but my grandson is 10 and I have no place to take him to shoot. The two gun clubs in this area have long waiting lists so it may be three more years before he gets to shoot. I, as most others, don't have the luxury of owning rural property to shoot on.

I to got a Mosin due to price. Now all my kids want one!! Great way to introduce folks to shooting.
