Not new to rifles as I have a 5.56, 6.8SPC, 30/30, 30/06 and 45/70 but I had a chance to shoot my cousin's son's new 6.5 Creedmoore and fell in love with the cartridge, as soon as I got home I placed a bid on a Browning X-bolt. Gun should arrive sometime this week and I had my FFL order some scope rings and a spare magazine for it. Already have a Leupold 4.5 X 14 scope to put on it.
That was yesterday, today I took a ride to Bass Pro and bought an assortment of ammo for starters.
Found out those cute little pointy bullets ain't cheap. :uhoh:
So now I have to sink more money into dies, bullets, powder, brass and possibly primers.
Before I jump into the fray I thought I'd post here for recommendation's from experienced members.

The more popular it gets, the cheaper the components.

For range fodder at 400 yards or less, I found really cheap Herters ammo as well as some other brands

Since it's a household name now, the Creedmoor is just like 308, 30-30, 30-06, 223, etc where you can go as cheap or expensive as you need.

I will tell you that IMR4350 and H4350 are the darling of the 6.5CM shooters. Personally, I couldn't find any, I picked up IMR4451 instead, but any powder in that burn range will work. Some even go so slow as H4831.

I load the Sierra 143grn SMK over IMR4451 with good results out of my buddies Ruger Precision Rifle. I'm not a big fan of either the RPR or the 6.5CM, but it's an easy cartridge to shoot well.

I'm a H4350 and 140gr ELD fan. I have just over 1400 rounds through my Heavy Barrel AR. This gun is a dream to shoot. My neighbor shot it for the first time and was really surprised as to how accurate it was, 1/2 moa at 200 yrds. He also loved my Nightforce 8-32x NXS scope setting on it. We shot it while we let his X-Bolt 300 WSM cool down. 3 shots and your done till it cools. Otherwise it starts throwing them all over the place.

Performance wise think of 308 necked down to 6.5mm and a 1:10 twist barrel, but the brass design is supposedly proprietary.
