I will echo what others have said in that I think it is the perfect cartridge for deer sized game. I have a Winchester Model 70 EW and I haven't used a different rifle for deer since I got it. It just flat out works. Easy in the recoil department, good ballistics, effective on game performance...what else do you need? Load up some 120-140gr pills in your favorite variety and enjoy the tight groups and dropped deer!
I know a lot of people like to market it as a good round for kids and women, but I think that is selling it short. I hung up the 300 Win Mag a long time ago, got tired of the recoil, and expensive ammo for the same results that the 7-08 gives me.
