Ok then a redesigned AR-10 is my choice.

Shotguns yes, that may be, but you said ONE rifle that would do it all. An AR-10 sized rifle with equivalent sites would be an excellent all around weapon if it had a decent gas system. It would be perfect.

.308 round, 20-30 round mags, nice light package for the caliber. Good ergonomics, excellent siting system.

Oh yea, and it must be select fire!!!!

option 1) FAL in its original .280/30 aka 7x43mm (130 gr @ 2390 fps). Enough power and still controllable in full auto

option 2) AKM in 6.5x39 (just neck down the 7.62 and get me a hardened steel core bullets like 5.45mm 7n10)

option 3) Swiss SIG SG-541 (precussor of SG-550 aka STG-90) in swiss experimental 6.5x48mm GP-80 (97 gr @ 2950 fps)

Just looking for the best infantry round that never was :banghead:
