Well if being 69 makes me a young man I'll take it..........That's young single man type thinking. I remember eating top ramen and bologna for two months because I wanted to buy a Holley double pumper.

Just curious, if your putting another $100 into the shotgun just to make it fit right, you might have wandered out of the budget realm, and could have picked up a LNIB 590 w/ magpul stock with adj LOP for litterally a few bucks more? To the point of the OP, I would have chosen the mossberg all day, but I don't get too chest thumpy about buy American because there was a time years ago when I wanted an 870 but chose the Chinese clone NEF to save myself $100+ as a young guy making min wage. But $100 more for the real deal, no question. Mossberg or Remington all the way.....And as I already knew the LOP is too long for me so I ordered a telescoping butt stock for it at $100.
Well if I'd heard of it before it might have been on my short list. I also have no idea what the adjustment lengths are with a magpul, 12.50" is my optimum LOP, most don't get down that short unless they're AR type adjustable butt stocks.Just curious, if your putting another $100 into the shotgun just to make it fit right, you might have wandered out of the budget realm, and could have picked up a LNIB 590 w/ magpul stock with adj LOP for litterally a few bucks more? It's probably moot since you'll eventually end up with the mossberg, if I understood correctly. The Escort was reviewed by Hickok45 recently I believe and I don't recall any major issues in his short review. I definitely don't knock people for looking to save a few bucks, but if you're planning to buy the "top dog" brand in a short while, I just don't see the point of buying the "Black and Decker" if you're gonna get the "Milwaukee" shortly after....Well if I'd heard of it before it might have been on my short list. Basically the Slugger is a Rem 870 clone internally and the Escort brand is every bit as good as Mossberg. Matter of fact there is one Mossberg line that I believe Hatsan makes and Mossberg just put's their brand on it, same with the Winchester SXP line. It's probably moot since you'll eventually end up with the mossberg, if I understood correctly. Unless you just want an extra shotgun laying around or to try out, then it makes perfect sense. Not to say your purchase choice needs to make sense to me or anybody, just a lil thought vomit. You'll probably be happy with the Escort. I've heard good things. Let us know how it goes and when/if you get the 500/590

Oh and I already own a Norinco M37, KS7 and a SDS BP 12 bullpup, I just like shotguns.
