Escort or Maverick?

I have nothing against Turkish shotguns, some are good, some aren't, just like gun companies here. With that having been said, I think I would get the Maverick. $250 bucks with the piece of mind of parts and customer service from Mossberg.

Picked up the Hatsan today and yup, they test fire it at the factory........ They don't clean it though....... Basically it's a pseudo Rem 870, easy to field strip, I cleaned it up then hit it with some Hoppe's lube oil. And as I already knew the LOP is too long for me so I ordered a telescoping butt stock for it at $100. That means I'll have to wait a bit before I order the Maverick because I'm going to have to do the same with it.

Just curious, if your putting another $100 into the shotgun just to make it fit right, you might have wandered out of the budget realm, and could have picked up a LNIB 590 w/ magpul stock with adj LOP for litterally a few bucks more? To the point of the OP, I would have chosen the mossberg all day, but I don't get too chest thumpy about buy American because there was a time years ago when I wanted an 870 but chose the Chinese clone NEF to save myself $100+ as a young guy making min wage. But $100 more for the real deal, no question. Mossberg or Remington all the way.....

Well if I'd heard of it before it might have been on my short list. I also have no idea what the adjustment lengths are with a magpul, 12.50" is my optimum LOP, most don't get down that short unless they're AR type adjustable butt stocks.

It's probably moot since you'll eventually end up with the mossberg, if I understood correctly. The Escort was reviewed by Hickok45 recently I believe and I don't recall any major issues in his short review. I definitely don't knock people for looking to save a few bucks, but if you're planning to buy the "top dog" brand in a short while, I just don't see the point of buying the "Black and Decker" if you're gonna get the "Milwaukee" shortly after....

Unless you just want an extra shotgun laying around or to try out, then it makes perfect sense. Not to say your purchase choice needs to make sense to me or anybody, just a lil thought vomit. You'll probably be happy with the Escort. I've heard good things. Let us know how it goes and when/if you get the 500/590.

ETA: I tried to share a video of it but for some reason it will only paste "Pantera Vulgar Display of Power album...... check out hickok's video of it though.
He also does a standalone review of it, I don't recall every detail of it but I don't think he slammed it for anything and he is a shotgun guy, the man can run a slug gun with the best of em....

Basically the Slugger is a Rem 870 clone internally and the Escort brand is every bit as good as Mossberg. Matter of fact there is one Mossberg line that I believe Hatsan makes and Mossberg just put's their brand on it, same with the Winchester SXP line.
Oh and I already own a Norinco M37, KS7 and a SDS BP 12 bullpup, I just like shotguns.

Yes, but it should be under the Mossberg international line. It's not the bread and butter lines. Turkey doesn't raise my confidence level.

Note: One of my shotguns is made in China.

I have two Maverick 88's. Great shotgun. Had zero issues with them. One is the 20" security model as pictured in the first post. The other has the 18" and 28" barrels that you can swap out with a little less capacity.

I don't know anything about the other gun. Can't say anything good or bad.

I would just read up on reviews and whatever fits your budget and your liking, go for it.

BTW my replacement buttstock showed up two days ago.

First thing is no instructions whatsoever......... Not even a YouTube how to.......
Next is no bolt to attach it to the receiver so I had to take the stock bolt and cut it down. The stock bolt is a steel rod threaded at both ends secured with nuts and washers. Due to it's length the butt itself would not fit which is why I had to cut it down.
There is a panhead bolt which must work mounting a different Escort and a countersunk bolt for attaching the butt to the pistol grip.
Once I figured out what I needed to do it went together with no problem and now with my shortest stock adjustment It's a 12" LOP. I'm happy.

In hindsight I should have done my own video.

Racking the Slugger is crisp and definitive, I would have a very hard time short stroking this gun unlike my Norinco M37 which has to be slammed forward or you will short stroke it. It could be a tad bit smoother but it's not bad at all, I figure that it will smooth out even more over time.

Can the Escort take an adaptor for using Mini shot shells?

If not, that would be a big plus for the Maverick right there. In some models, the increase in capacity is about 50%.
