Hi, everybody,

Just a quick set of questions this time around:

Where can I find parts and such for Mossberg and Maverick shotguns for order online?

Which parts are interchangeable between the Mossberg 500 and the Maverick 88? Specifically, I'm looking to get an "8-shot" magazine tube and a 20" or so barrel, and maybe a new forearm.

What's the difference between "old-style" components and "new-style"? (I'm looking at Numrich's Mossberg 500 page, and there're two Magazine tubes listed, one of each "Style")

Thanks in advance,
~GnSx
"I only went to get a new magazine tube, but I got two shotguns, a kitten, three puppies, a box of radishes, this spinning thing, a calculator, an air filter, three quarts of oil and a new cookie sheet. ... What? The guy gave me a really good deal!" ~Highroaders Anonymous :D

You can also order those directly from Mossberg, but you will probably get a better price from say Brownells/Midway/Numrich

Thanks to everybody who linked to places to buy parts and such. I'm all squared away on the "finding the bitz" problem, but the majority of my other questions remain:

What parts, other than barrels, can swap between M500s and Mav 88s?

What's the difference between "new style" and "old style" magazine tubes and barrels on the M500/Mav88?

Could I possibly buy an 8-shot tube for an M500 and put it in my Mav88, or would I just be better off buying a freaking Mav 88 Security with the 8-shot tube? Probably cost the same amount of money. :scrutiny:

Thanks again, y'all.

Any ideas where I can order Mossberg parts in Canada?

Other than SIR as they only sell a set list of catalogue items.

I think you'll be better off looking for an 8-shot Maverick. From both Mossberg's and Maverick's web sites:
Mossberg 500 and Maverick 88 barrels are interchangeable within gauge and capacity.
Mossberg 500 and Maverick barrels (see photo) include a threaded nut that screws into the front of the magazine tube. If you try to put an 8-shot tube on an old five-shooter, the old barrel won't fit because the threaded nut hanging down beneath the barrel will be in the wrong place. Is that clear as mud?
Other than the problem with barrels, stocks are pretty much exchangeable between the two guns. Sorry, can't help with the "old/new" style question.

You would have to swap the mag tube & spring, along with the barrel. Not sure of the forend/action bars are the same between the 6 & 8 shot models.

But by the time you get those parts swapped, you are near the price of a whole new Security model Maverick 88, anyway.

I have seen the "Security Models" on sale sometimes as low as $129.

8-round mag tube about $30
Follower spring $8
Least expensive barrel $74..already up to $112, plus tax&freight
