i haven't but one of our hunting buddies was. a duck was low on the water, somebody shot, pellets ricocheted off the water, and into his face :what:, he had a pellet in his chin, 1 inch above his right eye, and 1 inch below his right eye. doctor said if those pellets around the eye had been any higher or lower he would have lost the eye.

I have been grazed with a 7.62x39, hit with baseball shrapnel inside that magic 15m. radius, and .22 to the right shoulder. It just has that burning/ sting that wont go away, but i still say the spiral break down the right leg was more painful. I was hit by a car when I was on a motorcycle, yeah that was worse.

carrying a scar on the lower leg from a poachers gun for almost 50 years.he thought i was a game warden and i was out coon huntin carrying a carbid lantern.gave up the coon huntin that night

I once stepped on a mine, right before getting hit with a couple grenades.

And I took seven shots to the torso from a full auto one time. I'm glad we banned 'em...took me forever to get all that paint out of my 3D camo.

Been hit by shrapnel from a 122mm rocket, two pieces still in my right lung, three in my left. The blast threw me into a vehicle and I hit face first. Broke both my sinuses above my eyes. Woke up in Japan. Nope, I've never been shot.

I have been hit with a ricochet from a nail gun.

As far as a real firearm, ive almost been killed by a ND. Was skeet shooting with my parents and g/fs mom. I was operating the thrower and had just loaded it and was getting ready to release the clay when i heard the BOOM of a shotgun and get sprayed with dirt. When i started breathing again i saw the hole in the ground 3 feet from in line with where my head had been. I might be exaggerating a little but i was truly afraid. Thats the closest ive been to being shot (head shot with #7 birdshot, very close range) and hope i never get another lesson.

The only other time ive feared for my life was when i was home aloneworking on my truck and split my wrist open. Cut was 1/2" wide and 3" long. Doc said i had 1/8" left before id really had problems(hitting a major vein).

Only in a dream a few years ago...

It was weird... sorry if this dilutes the true stories.

I was about 10 or 11 years old when I had this dream (only 5 or 6 years ago!) and I think it was sometime after first firing a gun. My dad has a .22 Ruger pistol (yeah, the one I had the adventures with this summer, if any of you remember the kid who took it apart... completely), and I was sitting in the middle of my bedroom in my old house. The weird thing was that I was loading a magazine for the pistol, and the body of the magazine was orange. When I was done... I just pointed the magazine (not the pistol... I hadn't put the magazine in the pistol) down towards the ground so that the forward points of the bullets were pointed somewhat at my foot. When I put back the follower on the side of the magazine, the cartridge on the top of the magazine fired and went into my foot. I remember saying, "I... shot... myself..." and blacking out.
Weirdest dream ever.

Sorry... had to get that off my chest.

This is hardly worth mentioning as being "shot," except for the circumstances. I was on the University of Hawaii rifle team, and, in the early 80s, there was a range on the Manoa campus. It closed shortly after this incident, supposedly because of lead issues, but I suspect that there were protests about it (everybody on the team was ROTC). Anyway, I was at the range one day and this guy was there with his own rifle, an AR, I think. The range was backstopped by a rock cliff. This guy was on the far right lane blasting away at a lizard on the cliff on the far left. I heard his round impact the cliff, impact the left wall, and then it hit me in the chest. I was wearing a shooting jacket and barely felt it. I put the mangled round in my hearing protection container, and kept it for years and showed it as the bullet I got shot with.

never been shot with anything worse than bb gun. have been shot at multiple times. stabed once and a large slash on the back of hand that severed some tendons.

I got hit by a ricohet that I fired. I shot the case head out of a .357 Sig at 50 feet with iron sights. First time I hit one, never found that brass again, so I don't know how I hit it. Did it again, right through the center (have the case and bullet at home) it hits the case head squarely through the cartridge, and sent the bullet back and it bounced off my leg.

Most painful thing ever that I've encountered would have to be the doctor putting gause under my ingrown toenail. Don't drop O2 bottles on your foot kiddies. Shortly after that would be the 2nd degree burn from picking up a just cut piece of steel. It wasn't red, and I had forgotten it was cut...ouch.

I've been shot at by accident, as well, in the deer fields.

Have an aunt who was shot twice by a daughter's mutant ex-boyfriend. One slug still in her body. Too close to her spine for her doctors to feel comfortable in attempting to remove it. She describes it as getting hit with a red-hot hammer.

When I was 16,I got peppered with shot while rabbit huntnig by some moron who didnt know what was beyond his target (what he was shooing at, with small shot, at about 4 ft above the ground, and level is beyond me ), but my thick, down coat caught and stopped all the shot (but left LOTS of holes, accented white from the down inside), but left a pretty visible, vivid, scary, reminder of gun safety, which has helped me to ALWAYS be SUPER, EXTRA conscious of the 4 rules, ever since, especialy when hunting.I throw this in not to compare to what happened to people who actually got REALLY shot, but as a reminder to all (especially us hunters) to be CAREFULL when shooting, even shotguns with small shot, even in thick brush/woods.

technically, yes.

But it's no war story. My buddy and I were riding our dirt bikes during quail season when we were about 16. We stopped to have a drink of water and we heard a bang. A second or two later I thought that I got stung by a bee. Sure as schnitzel, I dug a piece of bird shot out of my arm. It only went in just below the skin, but it did sting.

Another time my friend and I both received loads of rock salt from a 12 ga (i assume) while riding our dirt bikes. It seems that we accidentally trespassed onto someones land and this old bastard shot at (and hit) us.

both times sucked, but were not life threatening, and both resulted from being where we should not have been (or should not have been there at that time of year). I do have some cool scars though.

ok, the goose story...

I was about 12 I think, I was swiming in my uncle's pond. I dove underwater and swam out a little ways. I surfaced, and a second later I heard "LOOK OUT!" So what do I do, I turn around to see what the rukus is. I turned around just in time to see one of my uncle's geese about 5 feet away and flying straight at my head. The goose then procedes to touch down and start beating me with it's wings. It hit me right across the bridge of the nose with the joint of one of it's wings, it broke my nose, and split me open. I've still got an odd flat spot, and a scar on the bridge of my nose from that fight. Oh yeah, and we had drowned goose for dinner the next night.

In the 7th grade I was shot in the back of the arm at school. Unknown caliber and unknown shooter (They think it came from off campus). I remember laying in the E.R and the police, coroner and every body you can think of looking at me. Talking about hush hush how things have changed I would have been on every TV network if that happened today.
Felt like a wasp sting with lots of blood. My kindney stones hurt alot worse.
I am glad I didn't know what a coroner was back then.

Got peppered by some birdshot once by a few less than intelligent hunters who didnt bother to notice that the phesant they were shooting at had just run 3 feet in front of me and my father.
none really broke the skin but they sure did sting like hell and the morons didnt stop firing until we started shooting up in the air.\

Needless to say we had a little chat with the game warden we saw on the way back to the car.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill, "Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at and missed."

I've been stabbed, does that count? In the back actually.....hurt like hell.
I've been "shot at", but I ducked.
