Ever bought a gun just because you had brass?

yup. built up a collection of .223 brass from every range or road side shooting location i came across and decided that i need a good varmint rifle and my girlfriend at the time needed something she could shoot . :) ah the joy of a good excuse for a new gun .

"Found brass is God's way of telling you he wants you to buy another gun."

I've used a lot of reasons and excuses for buying a gun before...I've been sitting here thinking about this one for a minute...My wife is usually pretty
cooperative with me and my gun purchases, but somehow... I just don't think this one would work...:what:

Not really.
But I have sold some guns and kept the reloading components and dies I had for them, knowing full well that I'd eventually end up with another.

Yes. .44 Spl.

Never been sorry. :D

I got the brass in a deal on some used reloading equipment.

"I'm getting there, I have an awful lot of .40 in the garage."

Same! And I like the feel of my (arrgh!) yet-unfired Witness Elite Match enough that I am considering that as a good platform to seek in .40 :)

I also (as someone else said) have baggies with *one* piece of brass in them, waiting until the day that I gather more, there's enough to justify the dies, which of course would be most useful with a gun in those calibers ...

I haven't bought a gun due to having brass. But I have purchased some 30/06 AP ammo and had to buy a rifle to utilize the ammo. Bought a Rem 7400 with several 10 rd mags.

Found 250 pcs of virgin 218 bee for 10 bucks once, cost me $185 for the contender barrel and took several weeks to find it.

Bought a 30 Herrett barrel once because I had the dies and thought the round looked kinda cool.

I've bought guns I have little hope of ever finding brass for.

Now if I can only find 6mm pinfire ammo...

No, but I did once buy a gun 'cause I had ammo. I bought a 44 and some ammo cheap, then sold the gun but not the ammo 'cause of shipping reg's. So I had ammo and no gun, good 'nuff reason to get another 44? I thought so ;-)

I had some boxes of .357 ammo from a gun I had years ago.
Saw a Smith model 28-3 on a local website cheap. So, picked that up quick and now I have a bunch of empty .357!

Yep. Collected .45ACP brass every week from the range, until I had 500 hundred cases. Then bought the dies and reloaded some of it. Told my wife I just HAD to have a 1911 in order to shoot the ammo I now had stockpiled.

Worked!

The range I go to sells brass in bulk so they "frown" upon you if you pick up brass from the floor. I also have never seen anyone pick up brass there either.

I'm giving it serous consideration. I have a couple thousand pieces of .40 brass picked up here and there. I don't currently have a .40, and (putting on my flame proof suit) don't think there is much a .40 can do that I can't do with the 9mm, 357 or .45 I already own. But, I have considered getting a Glock .40 and a conversion barrel to 9mm for it, just to widen my options in case ammo becomes hard to obtain due to increased regulations or a SHTF situation.

I reload all the calibers I currently shoot, and have also considered finding someone who wants to trade .40 cases for something I can use. Looking for .223, .308, .45, 9mm, 357, anybody interested?
