It is easy to become bored with punching holes in paper.

There are a few things I can do in a pinch to make things more interesting.

Take a long length of duct tape stretch it between two fixed points on the ground and place up to 10 small balloons on the tape.

Almost as fun as steel plates.

Tie aluminum cans with string on the pull tab and hang them from an old post or tree limb. And see who can make the can fall first.

Tape pennies to a piece of plywood and see who can be the next John Wilks Booth.

Check penetration of your favorite ammo with a box of old magazines or newspapers.

There must be an infininte number of ways to have fun with target shooting

I'm looking foward to hearing other ideas.

Ite a weight to a string, or a fine wire, and shoot THE STRING/WIRE...

As a kid, at our indoor range, that was the great feat... to shoot and break the target hanging wire that was holding up another kids target, (and do it intentionally)... there were a handfull of us capable of this feat........

Running Bunnies

We play a game called "Running Bunnies".

We attach an extra long cardboard to the target holder, and run the target out from 15 feet to 25 yds (the end of the shooting lane) and see who can score the most hits on the "bunny" target on the bottom of the cardboard. We ONLY do this with .22lr pistols, and it is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

Obviously, we do this on an indoor range...AFTER closing.

Shooting quart jars of old tomatoes with a .45 was fun too! (Did this one OUTSIDE) My great grandmother passed away and left 400+ quart jars of tomatoes canned in the fruit cellar. Most were pre-Kennedy vintage.
