I second the use of lithium grease. Went shooting in -12 F North Dakota winter weather with my brother-in-law over Christmas. Not a hitch with his 1911 in that weather with that lube. Velocity over the chrono was pretty sluggish though.

Torture test? Well...I put four mags of Corbon through my P7 PSP last night in rapid fire and then tried to hold on to that hot little bugger. Does that count? Oh... you're talking about putting THE GUN through it.:D

All of mine go through the obligatory 500 round no cleaning test.
Well at least the ones that have a possibility of being used to defend my life.
My SIG P-225 went through about 800 rounds with no cleaning and no malfunctions and my CZ-75 went through about the same.
My AK went throught alot more than that but I didn't really feel that it needed to be tested anyhow.
I have a 10/22 that belonged to my dad. He owned since sometime in the '70's and it became mine in about 1995. I was the first one to tear it apart and clean it and it had gone through thousands of rounds and all kinds of rough treatment during all those years with only a handful of malfunctions. I didn't feel the need to test it.
I don't ever treat my guns like that unless I am testing them. I always clean them after about 100 or so rounds and right away if it is humid outside. But since I know that they will work with all kinds of dirt in them I know that they will work for sure when they are clean.

I did 5000 rounds in 2 months through a second gen Glock 17 without ever cleaning or lubricating it.

Never failed to fire, feed, or eject. I finally gave up at 5K and cleaned it. Damn was it dirty!

The ammo was Federal AE and Winchester Value Pack.
