Ever feel guilty when you change firearm focuses?

My guns are for using so when I change its because I’ve changed my life, no guilt just evolution.

I could see how just accumulating could lead to guilt or buyers remorse maybe? Never really cursed with the buying fever though.

"Safe Queens" are not languishing. They are patiently waiting their turn, like a lady. She understands.
Equal time does not equate to equal love.
I use ARs a lot more than a pump rifle.
But I love her more.
I do not feel guilty.
And they understand.:)

No, I have always had a soft spot for .22’s, doesn’t really matter what they are, I go other places but always come back to them. Became a 5 gun master in IDPA because I liked shooting them all, got into 3 gun for the same reason. Built a 50 BMG, just because. I figure, I’ll quit when I have at least one of everything. I’ll leave the guilt for the folks that divide my stuff up once I am worm food...I bet there won’t be much though.

Im going to use that argument with my wife, the next time another lady shows an interest in me (I better update my will first)

No. Been doing that most of my life. Started of with revolvers. Then I was deep into shotguns for many years. Then it was pistols and revolvers again. The latest is benchrest precision.

The only thing that really bothers me is when I start doing that with women. That gets expensive.

What? Guilt? No, save feelings of guilt for when you have wronged others. Your guns (new or old) don't have any feelings.

I do to some extent.

Like other's I've competed in multiple disciplines over the years. Every time I've changed, I've bought new guns, accessories, loading gear etc. for that sport. Some are multi-use, so I don't mind all that much, but others are pretty specific, single purpose tools.

For instance every time I look at the 4 single shot rifles (1 Shiloh 74 and 3 Wyoming Ballard 1885s) I had built back when I competed in BPCS and long range I scratch my head. It comes to literally about $25-30K in rifles and $1500 in brass alone. Then there's the CAS stuff, couple cowboy costumes, 2 Colt SAAs with action jobs, reworked Marlin Coyboy and an 1897. None of that has been out of the safe lately as now I'm in to IDPA and 3Gun.

Luckily my wife just kind of takes in in stride and I keep thinking that when i retire there will be more time.....

Same here. I am shooting mostly IDPA, some USPSA, some Steel Challenge, some unaffiliated events of the same ilk.
My PPC, BPCR, F-T/R, CAS, Trap, and Skeet guns languish in the safe; plus several Just Because purchases.
I have a sale in prospect for one of my F-T/Rs, maybe that will break the logjam and I will sell off more that I don't use or anticipate returning to.

I don't feel guilty when my toilet plunger sits unused for months because I have no immediate need for it.
But I'm sure glad that I have one!

Firearms can be like that. Specialized tools for different jobs,

A saw and hammer are required for building a dog house, but are of no use when re finishing furniture or changing door locks.
If I'm building a dog house I don't feel guilty about my unused screw drivers, chisel, paint brushes and sanding block.

Now I have yet another new "passion". I don't regret the older styles I came to love, but I sometimes feel a little guilt about the dying flames of favorites in my hobby.
Others experience this over time?
Eh,,, not really.
Plenty of room for completely new/different Hobbies as well.

The only thing I feel "guilty" about is letting 2 guns get away from me. The first was one of the original Ruger .22 pistols (circa 1979) that I traded for a .380 which I still own.
The second was a Marlin levergun in .22 S/L/LR. The lawyer I had didn't tell me all aspects of the law and she apparently couldn't fight her way out of a wet paper bag.

Revolvers and lever action’s are still a passion.
My only regrets are every auto loader I have wasted money on.Well except for my Conan 357.

As alluded to above, we can go through "gun cycles". So, the trick is don't ever sell anything. That way when you return to the beginning of your cycle you will have your equipment/guns already in your possession. Think of the money you will save!

I started off with single actions revolvers. I still love to shoot them but the seven I have are just a small part of my collection of firearms. I have Surplus weapons from over twenty different countries. I have several modern simi autos. And let’s just say that I have a few ARs.
Some have asked how did I come to have so many different guns. I just tell them that I buy what I like. If I loos interest in a gun or type of gun, it just gets put away, and I buy something else.
There will always be another gun to buy, or another to dig out of the safe.

Think of the money you will save!
Well, let's see:

At least 3 more gun safes..............................................................................................................$4500.00

A larger house to keep all the guns and gun safes in....................................................................$50,000 + the house we already own.

The extra cost of all the guns we have bought over the years if we had not traded any in............$10,000

A wife who loves guns, hunting and shooting as much as I do, and has just as many guns..........Priceless!

Note: All figures are approximate, except the “priceless” wife – she is indeed priceless.:)

Man not a lot of regrets here. I guess I'm in the minority. I regret every gun I've ever sold except maybe one or two. Through the process I've found what I've liked though. Still, I wish I had most of those, quick cash sold guns back.

"Guilty" doesn't really describe it. More of frustration or stress, that I didn't know or feel then
what I know now. Would've saved some moolah.

But some of the oldies have shone more brightly than the rest, and have been returned to,
repeatedly.
