I was wiping down my collection tonight while watching the football game. I have been thinning the herd a little as I am aging and saving mostly favorites these days. As I came across a certain pistol I own, it occurred to me that it might be a candidate to let someone else enjoy. However as I wiped it down with an oily rag I was reminded how comfortable it felt in my hand and how comfortable it is to shoot. The pistol wasn't an expensive firearm. In fact it was bought as a surplus pistol. But it is in great condition, has never failed function, and is easy to clean. The pistol has earned my adoration and respect despite the lack of a pedigree. I fell in love with it all over again! Then I put it back in the box and left it out of the safe to shoot again during the holidays.
Have you ever fell in love with a firearm a second time after not seeing it recently? It wasn't a Browning, Colt, Beretta, or one of the other blue blood names. I don't mind telling you it was a Star BM 9mm. Just a handy pistol that works great and didn't break the bank. Thanks for letting me share my story with you.
