Not very often but it has happened. I have learned some neat words at IDPA matches when things go wrong during a stage for people.
I try to liven things up at times, shot a carbine match with an M44 Polish once, placed 36th out of 42, but I was the only one with a bolt.
I'm in the process of building a Turkish Scout rifle, it goes to the gunsmith tue. for the weaver rail to be installed. I plan on shooting it at some carbine matches.
But ranges do get boring after awhile, so I built my own, now I shoot what I want to shoot. Clays, steel, silos, you name it. At most ranges here you must use the bench, at the house we shoot out of the truck, prone, standing, sitting, you name it. I wish I had a tall backstop to try some arial stuff, but maybe someday. My neighbors claim the steel silos keep crime down, they have robbed every street but ours around us. So today I shoot for the safety of my fellow man.
I normally shoot everyday, a few exceptions, but most of the time at least 10-15 rds. Normally about 4 times per week I take out an old Turk and shoot at 300yds at the steel silos, 5 offhand, 5 sitting, 5 prone, and 5 supported with some sort of rest. Maybe once a week I drag the 870 out and run a box or two of slugs through it or one box of birdshot. Then I can of scatter shooting a pistol out onto the other days and on occasion shoot rifle and pistols.
I've yet to get bored here at the house shooting. Another good target is raw eggs.
