Here's an oddball from our forensic collection; a Lefaucheux 7mm pinfire revolver that holds 20 rounds. The cartridges are contained in two concentric rings of chambers, the outer ring firing through the upper barrel and the inner ring firing through the lower. I can't imagine trying to conceal it though :D

Somewhere I have a photo of a really bizarre revolver. There is a ring that contains a number of cylinders .These cylinders revolve into the frame .Empty one cylinder and turn another in it's place. I don't think it was meant as a carry piece !!!

Mete:

Are you referring to an Ethan Allen Pepperbox?

Flyboy , not even close !!! Pistols of the World by Blair, Viking press 1968, photo 634. Made in 1855 by J.Enouy of London it was equipped with a wheel of seven cylinders each with six chambers , and self cocking too !

I have heard of the 20 shot pinfire revolvers but have never seen a picture of one before. I always thought a N frame or even x frame S&W revolver chambered in 22lr or magnum with like a 20 rd cylinder would be kind of neat.

"Oh my! Id like to see a modern version of something like that."

Odd that you mention it; a fellow that posts on Canadian Gun Nutz has these pictures up of a handmade .38 Special single-action that works essentially the same way :D

"SDC, so how does that thing work? Does it fire both barrels at once?"

It indexes to one chamber at a time, firing first one chamber from the outer ring, then one from the inner, then one from the outer again, etc.

That last frontal photo (barrel arrangement) by SDC somehow reminds me of a Picasso painting. :p

That is a great idea for a carry gun, but I won't buy one unless they make it in .500 S&W.

I don't suppose anyone here happens to have the bullet weight in grains and the ballistics for that 7mm pinfire.

I've always been just as fascinated with the ballistics of a firearm's ammunition as the firearm itself.

Regardless, thanks for the photos!

Now thats a hammer! I think they do need to make one in .500 S&W better yet a shot gun like this.

Here's an oddball from our forensic collection;

I hope by forensic collection you mean; "Collection in an climate controled vault" and not "Collection in a cardboard box beside the water heater." That thing is neat, ever shoot it??? (If you can find ammo.)

Very cool. Thanks for the pics. I have seen a drawing of a 12-shooter that would work the same way and wondered if anything like it had ever been built. Now I know.
