Ever wonder how a National CCW would go over?

Well here is a look into the future of sorts, if the states are balking about a National Cop Carry Bill imagine how much they would balk if this was indeed a true National CCW bill.

http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26006

Imagine the reasons they would find not to take part in said bill, states which had no statewide standards or which did not meet minimum national standards would only come up with endless reasons not to meet them.

And remember this is GA and FL were talking about here, God only knows what nonsense will come out of MA, CA, IL etc...

Very strange, especially since both GA and FL engage in reciprocity with other states as far as CWP/CHL/CPL recognition goes ...

Anyone wonder if resistance to HR 218 might be grounded in the fact that there's no money to be made by the states?

Nationwide CCW is a pipe dream, but perhaps nationwide reciprocity for all states that issue CCW licenses/permits is not ...

Given that Florida and GA are shall-issue (are they not?) could it be possible that the state just wants retired LEOs to pay the permit fee like everyone else? Perhaps they are blocking it because they want to recoup potentially lost income?

It’s possible, but I doubt it, as most Probate Courts do not charge LEO’s for Pistol Permits anyway, or at least the one’s I’ve dealt with and thru other officers have first hand knowledge of the same.

We still have to be fingerprinted for the record and all paperwork must be filled out and I have always had to get a letter from the Chief or Major, stating that I am employed in a sworn position in good standing and that I have completed a B/I check within the last 6 months.

...the feds have no business according us rights and then allowing the states to interfere as they have.

If the federal government had any integrity, it would take the worst states to court for wantonly violating our Second Amendment civil rights.

Given that the federal government is one of the worst violators of our civil rights, I don't want it to have anything to do with concealed carry.

HR 915 - National CCW Reciprocity - is on the Table

HR 915 in the House of Representatives is on the table, looking for CO-SPONSORS. Maybe your Congressional Rep will be one of them IF YOU ASK.

da Wolf is right...

As soon as Fedl govt has jack-all to do with CCW reciprocity, you will find that the usefulness of your CCW permit in all states, including your own, will approach zero. There will be too many exclusion zones, calibre/capacity limitations, etc. such that the resultant permit is useless. Carry your squirt gun maybe, that's about it.

On the other hand, what law or less formal arrangement permits recognition of drivers licenses, license plates, etc by other states? Fortunately I don't have to worry that my drivers license only permits 2 door cars in Illinois, blue cars in Massachusetts, or that driving in Hawaii might be a felony. Why can't we have a similar recognition for CCW without heavy handed fed mandates?

How about we go for a constitutional amendment instead ....?

I even have a suggestion for the wording ... something like "the right to keep and BEAR arms shall not be infringed" ....

That should clear it up, right ...................? :p

HR 913 was introduced in 2003 - has, or - is it about to be re-introduced? It went nowhere in committee and had one (1) co-sponsor, Virgil Goode, Virginia.
