Hello All,

I've long been facinated by this pistol, and wondered what impressions are for it generally, as well as in these two rounds (and whether the 5.7 is an appreciable upgrade from 22mag).

I also have a line on the carbine in 22mag, would like impressions on that too. Thanks y'all!

I don't know about the Excel Accelerator, but do know that ballistically, the 5.7 is an appreciable upgrade from the .22 Magnum. I've chronographed both. The .22 Mag fired from a 16" rifle barrel approximates the ballistics of the 5.7X28 fired from pistol length barrel. Another advantage of the 5.7 is smaller extreme spreads in velocity than any manufacturer's .22 Mag. ammo I can recall chronographing in a revolver or rifle....ymmv

I've got one in 22mag with a 17HMR conversion barrel. It seems very accurate, which I suppose is what you would expect from an 8.5 inch bull barrel, although I've never shot it for groups. It's also the only autoloader that I know of that's available in 17HMR. On the downside, it weighs 53 ounces so it gets heavy at arm's length very quickly. Reliable feeding is the exception rather than the rule. Excel specifies a 200 round break-in, which I haven't quite done yet, but so far the record for consecutive rounds fired without a malfunction is 5. If 22mag were easier to come by I might give it more of a chance to break in, but ammo availability being what it is I'd rather shoot what I can get in a gun I enjoy more.

If you could tune it to run reliably, it would be a fun target pistol. Otherwise, I don't see much use for it. If you're undeterred by all this and still want one, send me a PM.

Col plink, Take a look at the TCM by RIA a high capacity 1911 that holds 18 rounds. Comes with two barrels the TCM and a 9mm. The TCM is a short 5.56 bottlenecked cartridge with a 40 gr hp moving at 2100 fps.:)
