I sold my AR, decided it just wasn't me, and bought a nice non threatening wood and steel Mini-14 a few months ago.

One of the criticisms of that gun is the high cost of factory magazines, and the problems with aftermarket versions. Did some research and found the Tapco 30 rounders generally had good reviews. At less than half the price of factory, I decided to buy a couple. I have a Tapco 20 round removeable magazine in my SKS and it has worked perfectly for several years now.

The Tapco Mini-14 mags worked well, as good as the factory 5 rounders the rifle came with.

However, when I went to reload them the other day, once fully loaded, rounds started popping back out of one of the mags.. First one round, then a few seconds later, two or three more. Not good.

Tapco guarantees all of their products for life, so I gave them a call. I was expecting the usual "it's not our fault, you must have done something..." Didn't happen. Their customer service rep listened, then asked me for my mailing info. Said those mags for the Mini-14 are currently out of stock, but that I will be receiving two mags in the mail in the near future.

In this throw away era of generally poor customer service, it was refreshing dealing with a company like Tapco.

Good to hear. Personally I'd use the Tapco mags for malfunction clearance drills and get some factory Ruger mags, but it's good that they're taking care of you.

Nachez just had a sale on Mini-14 mags and I picked up 2 factory 20 rounders. Haven't tried them yet, hope they work as well as the Tapco's. lol

OK, it took a while, but the promised magazines just arrived today. I had called a couple of weeks ago and was informed they were still back ordered. Two showed up as promised.

My only concern is that they arrived in a box with "Remington Arms Company" boldly printed on the outside invoice, and also on the address label. Most gun related companies today have the insight to use initials on labels so as not to indicate who they're from or what might be in them.

Not thrilled that the Fed Ex driver now knows I had a package from Remington, who I guess owns Tapco at this point.

Not terribly uncommon. Most cases of ammo I've ordered just have a shipping label slapped on the outside of the ammo can or factory box which clearly states the brand and load info. Uppers show up in beautiful colored boxes with brand names on them too. I've asked my postal delivery lady and ths fedex & ups guys in the past about this and been told its not unusual. They delivery quite a few similar packages to many folks in our community.

Thats a good thing, if he is intertwined with thieves, he will let them know you are a remington customer and that anything they would steal from you will be junk with a recall on it.
