Ive seen some 11 round mags. Other then that I dunno.
I bet there are others out there.
11 is pretty long, like an 1.5" out of the grip.
Thats one thing I hate about 1911's single stack mags.
BLAH

I have a Chip McCormick power mag that holds 10 rounds. It extends one inch past the butt of the pistol. It is very reliable. I've probably only got 300 rounds through it, but i have not had any failures with it. I got mine from Midway.

I think I saw a 15 rounder at a surplus store, but I wouldn't buy it on a bet. Big ol' long honkin' thing. Looked like nothing but trouble.

Why would you even want one?
With any training at all, you can reload a 1911 without missing a beat anyway.

Almost every reputable magazine manufacturer makes a 10-round mag.

Shady magazine manufacturers like Triple K and Promag make 15-round mags. I've never been willing to risk the 15 bucks to see if they work.

Promag also makes 20 and 40 round drums for the 1911. Like the 15 rounders, they also receive a :scrutiny: face from me whenever I see them at gun shows.

Every now and then you will come across 20 and 30 rounders at gun shows. Manufacturing is suspect on these at best. I really don't see a practical use other than range time since they will stick so far out of the gun. There are also the drums floating around but I have not heard good reviews on them either.

Cool! I've never heard of Denver Discount Mart! I'll have to go check it out.

I have a wilson 10rd mag it works just as well as the 47d's it does stick out a bit and changes the balance slightly

I stop at 8-rd mags because I like my mags to fit flush. There has been many improvements in metallurgy over the past 100 years so you can get a more-powerful mag-spring in the same amount of space as the original 7-rounders, but I find longer magazines aesthetically unappealing as well as unnecessary.

There are supposedly good 30-rounders for bowling-pin shoots, but I don't know the brand name.

I bought a Metalform on here recently that works pretty well.

However, I wouldn't carry it even as back-up because if you don't let the slide slam forward with full force, it'll have a failure to feed, as it rams the nose of the bullet into the feed ramp.

I have a few of the McCormick 10 round mags and they all run fine in numerous guns. I'd have no problem depending on them in a life or death situation. Price was right too with the recent sale Midway had.

yeah i think ill end up gettin a ten round mag just to have some fun..i have 40 round mags for my ar and 30 round mags the longer mag for the ar sucked! so i wouldnt doubt it if the longer 1911 mag sucks but i dont think it will for some reason..

Yes...it's a 40 round drum magazine. :banghead:

funny you put a pic of the 40 round drum in 45 acp i just now found the exact same thing and was coming in here to talk about it. if they had one in 40S&W thatd be even better!i had a guy take a colt45 mag and stick it right in my 40cal and it locked in place and everything just stuck out a little. he says u can rig one to work for a 40cal if u just bent the nose of the mag in a little that it should still feed and function the same?
