The difference would only become apparent if you ran the gun hard...most folks would never see the difference.Which still begs the question, why employ different extractor sizes if there is no meaningful difference in performance?
Last time I checked with them they still use the same single extractor for the .40/.357, 9 & .45 models, and there hadn't been any engineering revisions. The .45 models originally received a roll pin for the extractor instead of the solid pin because of a potential maintenance spec when some military pistol submissions & testing were anticipated. They may (or may not) eventually extend the roll pin idea to the rest of the model line ... maybe.It would be like the extractor on the 9mm S&W M&P9. They use the same extractor of the M&P40 as the M&P9 and it works for most folks.
