my dad passed down to me his Revelation model R22CA in .308; i think its actually a Mossberg if my info is right.

It will not chamber a round if there is more than 2 or 3 rounds in the mag. i push the bolt forward and after a fraction of an inch it locks up. sometimes if i back up the bolt and run it in again it feeds, but not often. if the mag only has 2 or 3 rounds in it it works ok.

can any body help please? Thanks ahead of time . -Eric

A Mossberg 800 to be exact with 6 locking lugs on the bolt head, somewhat similar to the Weatherby Mk V but with larger (and fewer) lugs. Is the bolt itself binding (given the design that seems odd)? Does the round actually start stripping from the magazine and then jam? Perhaps the round is dipping some and jamming its nose against the magwell? My guess is the magazine is showing some trouble when fully loaded and not allowing rounds to strip out properly.

Just tried to make mine jam (Western Field in 308 and Revelation in 243) and the 308 was a bit tight with a full magazine but no jam. Best I can figure is your magazine lips are a bit too narrow and they are binding with the round under maximum spring pressure with the round catching before it fully strips from the magazine.
