Ok who here carries via fanny pack? I just ordered a ka-bar law enforcement model. It seems to be the only comfortable option for me because I'm overweight so an IWB will not work. Also I usually wear wind suit type pants or cargo shorts when off so a belt holster is kinda out. Now I know I have read some say fanny pack screams other things but to me it screams gun and since I'm law endorsement I think it screams don't screw with me. Alps my two new carry pistols are a new blackened slide Kahr pm9 and a just came in sig p239 Sas stainless!!

I do. My wife HATES it as she says I look like a tourist but oh well. I comfortably carry my full size PX4 Storm and don't have to worry about a thing. With the heat where I live shorts, T-Shirts and flip-flops are my every day dress so it is an easy call for me.

I used to carry in a fanny pack because I had to take it off and put it in the trunk of my car when I went to work. Just too much trouble to do that with a good belt holster except for the paddle ones and they don't conceal well enough for me.
I now carry using an OWB belt holster and have no problem concealing a fairly large handgun. I am going to get a good IWB holster. I am still fairly stout but I have lost some weight recently so my pants are now loose enough.

Whether a fanny pack "screams gun" depends on the context in which it's used.
If you're in a small Texas town where people wear big hats and boots, a fanny pack looks out of place.
If you're in a suburban or urban area or in a college town, no one will notice because lots of people wear them.
The fanny pack has a lot to offer.
You can carry everything in one package, including a gun, spare ammo, wallet, keys, checkbook, even a cell phone, and handcuffs and badge for police.
This is fast and easy to put on when you're running out for something, and pretty well eliminates the chance of thinking "I'm just running down to the corner for some bread", and leaving the gun at home because you have to stop to put on the holster.
With a fanny pack, leaving the gun requires that you remove it from the pack, so you tend not to leave it at home.
Depending on which pack you buy, these can also offer a very fast draw and a very secure, snatch resistant method of carry.
So, context is everything.

I like my Ka-Bar, although I don't remember what model it is. However, I did buy it from a police/tactical store. The gun pouch holds virtually any sized handgun, from a Sig P238 to a FNP9. It also gives me a place for a small flashlight and an extra mag. However, the extra mag better be a small mag as it won't fit anything other than a small single stack. Overall, it looks less like a fanny pack and more of a pouch.

My wife has a condition that makes her unable to carry a purse. I've taken on the task of carrying most of the stuff she used to cram in her purse - wallet, phone, ID's, reading glasses, multiple shades of eyeliners and lip glosses... you get the idea. The easiest way to carry all of her stuff was to buy a manpurse. It seemed to me that having on some kind of waist pack or manpurse, while also wearing a CCW belt holster would tend to be cumbersome, so I got one of these:
Maxpedition Versipack. It holds all her stuff, plus it has a dedicated pocket where a velcro-backed holster can be attached, and to me, it doesn't scream out "gun", or "tourist" or anything. It's well-made enough that I've been using it every time we go outdoors for months, and I can't tell that it isn't brand new. If you don't like the military-style colors, it also comes in red, navy, orange, yellow... all kinds of non-military colors.
It's been my favorite piece of gear for a while now.

I live in a low end urban college town ... and a fanny pack screams "GUN!" here.
Actually, I've never been anywhere where a fanny pack didn't mean gun. Most "serious" tourists these days have gone to man purses, much like the one shown above, as far as I've seen.

Fannypack will it be worn on your backside or front? Cause i live in the southern Apps and when you wear it in the front it screams something but it is definitly not gun.More like hi big guy.

I wear a fanny pack every now and then but only when I go hiking or on dog walks; my S&W hammerless 5 shot .357 fits nicely in my pack. I've yet to get an IWB for my S&W M&P 9 or 9c so if it's chilly enough that I can wear something other than a t-shirt (i.e. long sweatshirt, jacket, etc...) then I'll wear my OWB Bladetech Stingray Belt Holster.
It's kinda hard to conceal anything in hot Phoenix because we wear very little clothing most of the year.

I'll do the backpack and even camera case before I do the fanny pack. In a warm place like AZ, it's common for people to have cameras or hydration. Having an accessory that does either with enough room for EDC piece works best for me.
Or, I'll simply slip the P239 into a front pocket of my jeans. That really destroys the finish of the firearms, though.
