what does it matter if it's loaded or not?
asking if it's loaded is something people totally unfamiliar with firearms do, because for whatever reason they think that the legal status of a gun somehow changes when loaded

I read this story in a similar fashion to precisionshootist: father had gun stuck under HIS pillow, and child napped out on daddy's bed. "Improper storage"... maybe, depending on circumstances. But child abuse? Gimmie a friggin' break!

I think we have enough ACTUAL child abusers that need the law's attention...
