I hope to have need of a .45 auto w/ threaded barrel in the next 4-5 months. The options I have considered are (price, high to low):

* H&K45 Tactical - $1200
* Sig p220 combat - $1150
* FNX Tactical .45 - $1100
* XD(m) 4.5" .45 Threaded (Lipsey's exclusive) - $650
* Glock 21 new factory threaded - $650
* M&P .45 Threaded - $600
* Glock 21 used + aftermarket threaded barrel - $500ish
* Install threaded barrel in 1911 I already own - $250 to start

I'm open to other suggestions as well.

They would all get the job done. The FNX seems like everything I want, but I can see arguments for every option I listed.

I have handled all of the above, but only actually fired the 1911. I have a G20 so I suspect a G21 is not much different. The others would be new experiences.

I will be using whatever I get with a SilencerCo Osprey, whenever the taxman stamps me.

Thanks,

I'd go for the H&K because they hate you but produce some outstanding pistols especially when paired to suppressors.

If H&K is considered, should I throw the Mk23 into contention as well? It would be $600ish more IIRC. I haven't handled one which is why it wasn't on the list.

If you are asking me, I would have bought a Mk23 if suppressors were legal here in Illinois.
Because they are not, I opted for a USP Elite

I don't own a suppressor yet, but it seems HK takes them seriously and the military seems to keep buying them, like the new Mk24 (HK45 CT) I have the HK45 C and it's a great gun. Minnesota just legalized suppressors, and when I can afford it I'll be upgrading to the HK45 CT for a host gun.

I have the FN and a G21. I run the same suppressor on both and prefer the FN but it is not for folks with small hands.

FNX-45 Tactical. It has suppressor-height sights (contrary to popular belief, the Osprey isn't low enough to let you see over it with most standard-height sights), the slide is cut for an RMR, it has a 15-round mag, and the slide profile looks perfect with the Osprey. I've fired one with an Osprey before, and it's one of the best silencer hosts out there in terms of sheer fun-factor.

Here are mine in .45 acp...

FNP This is my favorite, shoots just as good as the USP which is awesome but I think it is more aesthetically pleasing. The grip angle is also a little better feeling to me.

TIMC, I have a few questions about your USP45. Did you have to change to a threaded barrel? If so, what make did you choose? Did you have to change the sights? What is the model of your suppressor?

I also have a USP45 and thinking real serious about adding a suppressor.

Thanks in advance.....

Hank

Yes it is an aftermarket barrel but it was made by HK. I also changed the sights but with the Osprey suppressor i really don't think it is necessary. The front sight post on the factory sight comes up even with the top of the suppressor so it is workable, the sights I added come up above the top of the suppressor.

Bought the barrel and sights here:

Suppressor bought here:

Fwiw...

I handled a mk23. Not for me.
I looked at the Remington R1 enhanced W/ threaded barrel...seems nice.
Tried out an XDM.

Bought a FNX .45 Tactical. With one of the curved backstraps it is comfortable to grip, and the package had only one gripe for me (I don't like how decock is down from fire). Beyond that it seemed to offer everything I want. I'll try it out at the range tomorrow.

Thanks for your feedback and opinions.

threaded .45

Glock 21 3rd gen w/Lone Wolf threaded barrel. Shoots great with my YHM Cobra M2. I have a Kimber 1911 Custom II but I don't care to thread it.
