The Valor is a $1400+ gun :banghead: It should not even be in the discussion. OP is talking about $700 guns.

OP brought it up dude.

But I will say your pic of the FNP-45 has me thinking I need to play with another one just in case my initial impression was wrong. I didn't dislike it but it didn't do it for me the first time for reasons I cannot remember. That is one fine looking gun. I'm not saying my USP is scared but I just might be dumb enough to try one.

Don't overlook the used market, some great bargains to be had these days. I picked up my SIG220 for under $500 including shipping and transfer.

the Glock 21 doesn't fit my hand well either, but the Glock 30SF does. Also, suggest you check the Beretta PX4 Storm in 45 caliber. The XDm 45 is also a fine gun.

I like my m&p 45... Solid, accurate, reliable

Here's another vote for a nice use USP. If you look around and are patient you can find one for well under the $700 mark.

I have seen quite a few Rock Island Armory under $500 as well as the American Classic's/Stogers.

sti spartan or the witness elite match. and I had a pt1911 that just ran and ran and ran. accurate too.

I haven't handled the FNP 45 or M&P 45, but I handled the 9mm versions. Gah what awful triggers. not that a glock's anything to write home about. Xd's about the best striker factory trigger I've come across.

but if you really want the valor, why spend the money now and put yourself further away from your goal?

i just bought a very good condition Made In Germany SIG SAUER P220 45acp.
For 589.00 with box and two magazines.
Thinking about sending it back to Sig for a lookover and new springs and pins thats $100.00.

So $689.00 total.

but I would think about a used Hk USP 45c, New Hk USP45's at CDNN are around $799.00 or A Used Like New Sig P220 older german version.

I purchased a USP45 Tactical as my first handgun. At that time, the FNP45 was not on the market.

I still love my USP and wouldn't trade it for anything, but I will say, if the FNP45 were on the market when I was purchasing my first handgun, I would likely not have an HK pistol now.

my only thing against the FNH45 is the grip length is ridiculously long,
sticks out very far. too far for me and the mag angle is kind of strange.

Even though I just bought an STI Spartan, and it locks up like a bank vault, and I wouldn't trade it for anything right at this moment, I'm going ask if you've considered Ruger: P90 if concealability isn't an issue, P345 if it is. Or P97 if you don't need an accessory rail and want to go for lowest possible price. There's one P97 on Gunbroker right now for $319, and a LNIB one started at $100. For your $700, you could get the P97 AND an old Mk II .22. Or a case of ammo.
(Only shooters with medium-to-large hands should apply for the P90 -- but the other two are fine for any size.)

I have owned at least one example of all three and all have proven dead-nuts reliable and accurate as a good 1911.

My father owns a P90, and it's a good piece. I really like the M&P. Heard good things about the Witness too, but the QC issues keep scaring me away... In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have brought up the Valor at all....

Then buy a used m&p for what you think you can sell it for. Then its no risk if you want to try something else later. Just dont Plaxico yourself with it.

Springfield Armory GI-45 or Mil-Spec

Ruger P-90 or P-345

I have the GI-45, SA "Loaded Champion" (may be above your $700 limit) and the P-90 Ruger. All go BANG! on request, every time.

M&P is a good choice, but i'm not fond of striker fired triggers. If you happen to like double action revolver triggers, take a look at the Sig P250. I really love mine, it is a testament to simplicity and hasn't failed me once.

If you're open to steel vs. plastic, check out a used S+W 4506 or 4516. You could find a nice one and add a holster, extra mags, back up recoil and mag springs and a bunch of ammo and still be under budget. Last you forever, too.
