This is probably a duplicate or if not very similar to a previous thread, but I was wondering, with all the different mainstream types guns out there which one is your favorite. There are so many Glock fans out there or 1911 fans, I just want to see how the numbers match up. You can base it on shootability, reliability, looks, whatever you want. If you chose other, please specify

Can I Have Two Choices For Favorites?

Me being me, I have to show the world that actually MY favorite semi-auto
comes down too two; so therefore I didn't vote in the poll. My all time duty
weapon favorite has to be the West German SIG-SAUER line of classic P
series pistols; as far as "combat weapons" go. OTOH, my favorite to shoot
(and now my daily carry piece) is a 1911~!;) So, go figure as I do admit
to having two favorites~! :D

I hear ya

I understand that, the only reason i didn't allow more than one choice was because i didn't want everybody voting for a bunch of different choices. I want to see what people would pick if they could only pick 1. I personally really like both the Sigs and HK's but if i had to pick only one it's gonna be the 1911.

1911 (in .45ACP)... of all the automatic pistols I've shot/handled, it fits me best, and has what I consider to be one of the best rounds ever in terms of power/controlability in an auto.

And it's a classic.

I voted for the XD, it seems like the more rounds I get through mine, the more fun it is to shoot! I've had others that I eventually just got sick of and sold off. I pesonally do not like the looks of XD's but they fit my hand well and are reliable.

XD

I voted XD, I love mine and the ergonomics are perfect for me. Its reliable, accurate and comfortable to shoot. I could not ask more from that pistol.

my new favorite

my p64 in 9x18, slim trim, deep sexy blue, tack driving accurate, and dead nut's reliable. All she needed was walther ppk 18# hammer spring ($4.) to cure her tough da pull.:D

I bet 1911 will win overall. but i voted xd, any caliber any frame size, they are all great and are by far my favorite handgun, of all time.

Yea, I figured 1911 would do pretty well, However the "other" category isn't trailing by too much. I figure I can't draw a good conclusion until this poll gets quite a bit more votes.

I don't have a favorite per se...more like favorites. I really like a well tuned 1911 and BHP. I also like polyguns like the HK USP / P2000 and 9mm's from Glock, especially the G19
Tough when you don't have an "all of the above" button in the poll :D

I voted for the 1911 (I have a Springfield and two Kimbers), but I've had great experiences with the Ruger P-Series pistols, too. I'd buy another P90 to go with the one I have now if I had the money. One for the house and one for the truck. :D

I have two that run neck and neck. My XD-45 and Wilson Combat Professional. The only reason I chose the XD-45 over the Wilson is due to magazine capacity.

I enjoy shooting many different types of handguns at the range. 1911, SA revolver, etc. I picked Glock because that's the SD pistol i carry every day.

I had to go with "other" as I really love my S&W M&P; however, if I were ever told I could only have ONE gun, first, I'd move to a better place, but if I could only have ONE, I'd have to take a Glock 17; I don't really care for the grip or the trigger, but the ease of maintenance, availability of replacement parts (and 9mm ammo) would make it my "only one" gun. I just don't care for the 1911 platform, which is why I don't own one and probably never will.

I picked the 1911, because that' what I carry, and it happens to be my favorite, but other worthies, in my opinion, are the Browning High Power and the Kahr P series. I have one of each, and think a lot of them.

Sig 229, in .40. If I could only keep one, that'd be it. Hard to explain. I have three 1911s, and I love 'em. But the 229 is so solid, so unfailing, so accurate, so easy to clean. To me, its only "failings" are weight, grip width and $$$$$$$$$ (Add tritium sights and LaserMax --- Presto! a $1300 gun.)

With whatever there is I don't like, it is still the safest-to-handle, most effective. A range buddy described it as "an assassin's tool." A totally-efficient raygun :D .

It also eats everything. Sometimes I think I could fill the mags with rocks and sand and it'd shoot pebbles.
