Both, but for different reasons.

The 1911 for its history and style.

The Sig because it works--always. I've never had a Sig that gave me any trouble. I've never had a 1911 that didn't have "issues" from time to time.

One of each please.

1911 for history's sake and the trigger. Sig P220 for the action type and double stack mags. Hell, it is the holidays, so get 'em both:evil: .

Still 2 Many Choices!?

I've owned five P220's over the years.

In the dozens that I've handled, I noticed that no two have the same trigger pull. I have noticed a trend toward heavier pulls on the newer guns. Some have been terrible; I sold one P220 because Northern Virginia Gun Works couldn't reduce the weight.

The SIG P220 SAO corrects all that.

Whoops!

Thanx for the clarification Black Majik. I would have sworn the 220 was double stacked:eek: . What is the capacity then?

Still 2 Many Choices!?

My first CC purchase was to be a SiG P220 Carry two-tone or a H&K USPC. I looked at both together. They are practically the same dimensions and are both high-quality firearms. I couldn't decide and nobody had them for rent, so I couldn't try them out. So I picked them up one at a time and aimed them at a common point, quickly. The H&K pointed much better and it now resides in my collection. It is still a fine gun and I wouldn't trade it or sell it.

But the one that points best for me is the 1911. I have 3.

If the same is true for you, get the 1911.

I like both, and I should probably still own both...but I don't, I sold off the 1911's. There was always something about a 1911 nagging me to make a perceived improvement or upgrade. The Sig on the other hand, just wants food and work.

I have had a half dozen or more of either. I have one 1911-pattern left in the safe (just to still have one) and three P220s that are my daily carry rotation.

When I pick up a P220, I never have to worry about peening feed ramps or magazine lip geometry or hammer follow or fragile MIM internals or balky Schwarz safeties or any of that. I just shoot the snot outta them and they LIKE it. :D

I'm sure that many can say the same for a 1911 pattern pistol, but not for less than TWICE the money that it takes to buy a solid yeoman P220.

Well put Atticus. BUT I did have a custom 1911 years ago that was in my mind perrrrrfect. I had to sell it but I think I will have to buy or build its replacement. The P220 will have to wait for another day. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate and respect your opinions. Even from stupid people I completely disagree with.

Just Kidding.:neener:
