Which of these classic designs with metal frames, chambered in 9mm do you think rules the roost. Reliability, availability (not too obscure), feel, beauty, accuracy, history, significance of the design, can all be factors.

Beretta IMO...I don't know if I saw pictures of that gun when I was young, or in a movie or something, but that gun is 'what I think about' when I think about a pistol.

I think the Hi Power is the cat's meow when it comes to steel-frame 9mm's. It's fairly slim and fits me well. The only downside is the fairly heavy/gritty trigger on some. It's still my favorite steel-frame "classic" 9mm.

Wow this was a tough poll, lots of favorites on that list.

I gave my love to the HKP7 (the PSP or Euro mag release version).

The BHP and the Italian made early Series 92 (SB, F, G and FS) are close runnerups.

Most of the Commonwealth forces still use the Browning. I do. Most of the guys will say it's a POS only because is an Army issue sidearm. Mine is made in the early 1940's but brand new from war stock. They are made by Inglis Canada and are No2 Mk1*. I believe they were intended for the Chinese Nationalist Army but of course we all know what happened to them. So Canada kept them and put them in storage until now that is. Now I carry a piece of history 24/7.

I voted for the BHP as it IS the classic 9MM, but I still prefer the 92fs, utterly reliable with any and all ammo I have fed it, never misses a beat, mine is the Italian made version, feels like it slides on ball bearings, like the Koolaid man says, "OH YEAH"

ARLover, are you looking for a 9mm?

I just sold my last polymer 9, one of many, to fund another metal framed 9. I wanted to know what people consider the top performers. I own a few Sigs and they have really turned me onto shooting metal framed handguns.

I just prefer the performance, feel, and look of the classic metal frame 9's and am glad to say I no longer own a plastic 9! (I still own a USP 45, my last plastic handgun)

BHP and CZ 75B are on the short list, maybe a Beretta.

I'm also just curious to know what people like.

Hey Teapot, guess what...... ah you know.

I Do not even need to be told either. The Browning is much nicer than the thing we are issued. They are a pure pleasure to shoot.

I do have a question for you about your ammo though. Do you guys use a 116 grain projectile like I have heard or do you use a 124 grain M882 style load like your brothers south of the border (your border, not mine)?
