favorite firearm you own

If I HAD to cull all but one firearm from the herd the one that would remain is my Remington 512 and its Weaver G6 scope. Have owned it for 60 years. Aside from sentimental value, it simply shoots with the best.

If I had to carry one of mine out of the house in a fire, I'd burn to death deciding.

The only gun I have with any sentimental value is a Ruger 22/45 my wife gave me as a wedding present, so I'd say that one.

This turned into a "Big Black Gun" thread so let me suggest the other end of the spectrum. Right now my favorite is my Kahr PM-9. It follows me around the house and doesn't ask for much.

Now that's a tough one...this is my all the time CCW faithful companion,

And this is my stepfathers inheritance to me, wicked accurate and always reliable. Smith Model 10-8 .38 Special.

Favorite One?

My favorite is usually the one I most recently bought.

Last winter, my favorite was my Walther P-38. After that, I got an old bolt action .22 like the one I had when I was a kid. So then THAT was the gun that got my love and affection.

My current favorite is my AR-15 A2, because it's the newest.

But when all the newness wears off, I always come back to my little .22 Ruger Single-Six. I can't say why.

My preferences seem to change from day to day, but I have a few that always get taken to the range.

My all out favorites are always muzzleloaders. I have come to really like the Austin & Halleck .50 caliber Mountain Rifles. I have them in percussion and flint and I spend a lot of time with them. Another fave is a Thompson Patriot muzzleloader pistol.

As for cartridge guns, regardless of what else I take to the range that day, a couple of the same guns almost always get taken. A Marlin Camp 9 in a Muzzelite bullpup kit, a Ruger 22/45 with 12 ounce trigger and Tac-Sol aluminum barrelled receiver. Both are a hoot to plink with.

I recently bought a Suhl 150 .22 target rifle, and after turning in some amazing groups at 50 yards, I can see it becoming a favorite fast.

Oddly enough, my "best" guns are rarely my favorites. I guess I need to start considering that when I'm about to lay out big money on one.

Haha, interestingly enough, as I scrolled up through posts I hadn't read before my own post, I see a post by Brad. His posts on one of the benchrest forums is why I bought my Suhl in the first place. Thanks Brad! I am most pleased with mine so far.

Mike,

Your welcome. Those Suhl 150's will shoot now. I believe that all factory barrels should be made like the Suhl barrels. Then a lot of shooters would soon realize that the other barrels on their guns are in fact holding them back to shooting the groups that they would like to shoot. It sure is nice to own a gun that shoots better than most shooters can hold it. :)

Ruger M77 that I`ve been working on now for about 4 months would be my favorite rifle and of course my Glock 22 , .40 cal is my favorite pistol. I know you asked the question favorite firearm but I have 2 favorites.

Brad, I totally agree. Having a gun that shoots better than the shooter removes any doubt as to where the flyers or open groups come from. It's an invaluable training tool.

It changes some depending on the mood, but I gotta say that my AR is my baby. Never go to the range without it!

My Winchester 1894 lever action .30-.30 My grandfather bought it for me when I was 12 so I could deer hunt with him. It was my first gun and I will always have it with me.

Some nice guns on this list. Tyris, really nice 77/44 combo (I'd love something like that myself- a .44mag/.44spl long gun with a silencer would probably be a great home defense carbine). I wonder if they could do that treatment to one of the Ruger .44mag semi-auto carbines.

Favorite rifle: Winchester 94 in 30-30 (if I ever get an M1 Carbine I'd expect my favorite the change- I love shooting those Carbines when I get a chance but I don't own one).

Favorite handgun: Changes so often it is hard to say at any given moment. However, over the past 7 or 8 years the guns that have spent the most time at the top of my list are S&W K-frame .357mag revolvers and 1911 types.
