My preferences seem to change from day to day, but I have a few that always get taken to the range.
My all out favorites are always muzzleloaders. I have come to really like the Austin & Halleck .50 caliber Mountain Rifles. I have them in percussion and flint and I spend a lot of time with them. Another fave is a Thompson Patriot muzzleloader pistol.
As for cartridge guns, regardless of what else I take to the range that day, a couple of the same guns almost always get taken. A Marlin Camp 9 in a Muzzelite bullpup kit, a Ruger 22/45 with 12 ounce trigger and Tac-Sol aluminum barrelled receiver. Both are a hoot to plink with.
I recently bought a Suhl 150 .22 target rifle, and after turning in some amazing groups at 50 yards, I can see it becoming a favorite fast.
Oddly enough, my "best" guns are rarely my favorites. I guess I need to start considering that when I'm about to lay out big money on one.
Haha, interestingly enough, as I scrolled up through posts I hadn't read before my own post, I see a post by Brad. His posts on one of the benchrest forums is why I bought my Suhl in the first place. Thanks Brad! I am most pleased with mine so far.
