Let's take a minute and list a favorite gun, and the spare parts that might be recommended to keep it running. I'll start with a Browning Hi Power. I have found over the years that it is nice to have: firing pin, FP spring, FP retaining plate, slide stop, mag catch and related parts, and a recoil spring guide (one got damaged once, making it useless). I have only had to replace the guide rod and FP retainer after it cracked, but the other parts could quickly shut you down. What do you keep on hand for your favorite gun?

SIG P226, recoil spring and mags and ammo so far. :) I did replace the slide block pins when I took it all the way apart. if/when something breaks I'll try to find replacement parts I guess.

"Favorite gun" is a bit akin to "favorite child". I try not to buy guns I don't like and beginning on or around 1980 I started buying spare parts for all my guns at time of purchase. I have also done retro purchaes of spares for guns I've had many years.

Generally the parts I keep on hand are the ones that get a lot of use for one reason or another, seem prone to breakage or just disappearing in a puff of gun oil ... small springs mostly and other little parts that somehow seem able to get lost in places where even roaches don't go.

A lot depends on availability and perceived lack of supply. For Glocks, with parts all over the place, I have spare RSAs and trigger springs mostly, for my 1006 I bought a bunch when I realized the gun was not going to be in production very long, and for my "T" model BHP I've got mostly springs, pins and other small parts that look weak or have proven to be so. For our KP90s I have a couple of spare recoil springs and guide rods. Those seem to be the parts most often unavailable.

My favorite platform would be the M1911. Besides magazines and their ancillary parts, I try to stay stocked with spare firing pins and extra springs.

Sorry to do this, but GP100 6" barrel. No spare parts needed. EVER.
Strong as it is I used to agree. Then the crane latch pivot screw fell right out of mine and was lost forever in the sand and grass. Now mine and my wife's have that particular "head-downward" screw held in place with Loctite Blue.

Pardini SP: recoil spring and firing pin and spare mags (the ejector is built into the mag). But honestly super-reliable. I have only had two malfunctions as FTF in probably 10,000 rounds.

1911?

Over the last 50 years I have broken a total of 2 extractors.

Both were broken shooting WWII surplus steel-case ammo.

I have never broken a firing pin.
For me it would have to be extra recoil springs and firing pin retract springs.

They don't break.
They just wear out if you shoot enough.

My favorite is a 1911. I keep an extra, fitted extractor for my EDC.

A few extra pins for the hammer, sear and MSH. Recoil springs as well.

Other spare parts include short guide rod and matching spring plug, Kimber rubber grips, long trigger, flat MSH, slotted screws for the mag release and grip panels, and grip bushings.

Mag springs and recoil springs are all I've ever needed to keep my pistols working, as far as spare parts go.

spring springs and more springs... Its been a number of years since Ive actually broken a part... I guess that means I just need to shoot more... lol

FNs I have both a FNP 9 and a FNX 45, You can buy all of the parts to rebuild the guns dirt cheap. example would be slide rails for $5.00 each. Plus they are very well made guns and are very accurate.
