Yes, why I AM bored at work, how did you know?

No one can question the importance of a good holster, access, comfort, and concealment are key.

Include what firearm you use it for, when you use it and why you like it.

Fill this out.

Shoulder holster/rig: Have not found anything good.
Ankle holster: Have not looked, do not see it as a great option for me.
IWB: Don't own any, cept the cheapo generic slip in one.
OWB: The Bianchi Accumold is small and fits snug, good angle. I like to open carry my p220 at home with this.
Pocket: Don't own one.
Slide Clips/Special Grips:I have a Baraimi (sp?) Hip Grip on the Rossi snub nose. It's plastic and protrudes out to grab your pant waist/belt. VERY convenient for slipping in at 4o'clock when I need to go to the garage for a smoke or working on the car.

Lookin' forward to replies,

-L

Ok, I'll play.

Shoulder holster/rig: Have none and have never looked for one.
Ankle holster: Same as above but this one I have considered.
IWB: Basic suede Bianchi for various snubbies.
OWB: Done Hume 721 OT and JIT Slide, for XD40 SC, XD 45 and SP101.
Pocket:Standard Uncle Mikes for lightweight snubbie.
Slide Clips/Special Grips: Recently tried a ClipDraw on my SP101, mainly due to comments I read on THR. I never took them too serioulsy, but it makes concealing the SP101 very easy, and is easy to draw.

Shoulder holster/rig: Have none and have never looked for one.
Ankle holster: Same as above.
IWB: Versa max II I love this holster and use it with my Glock 27.
OWB: Use a triple k holster for my mark II target. Got a couple various models for 1911 and glocks.
Pocket:Galco pocket lite for my keltec 3AT I use it when I am not using the Glock 27 VM2 combo
Slide Clips/Special Grips: I never cared for groin wounds... lol :D j/k just not my thing

Shoulder holster- Found a cheap one I like As soon as the hide I am working on is cured I will make one I like more. Try vertical carry sometime. I like this one because I ride a bike a good bit of the year.

Many of the others are not for me due to work, comfort, threat to my yarbles etc.

One of the most beautiful holster rigs I know is Tucker's HF-1 with matching belt and double magazine holder. The rig also works very well. Shown below is the rig in black cherry with crosscut stamping, as made for a 1911. Tucker makes them for other pistols and revolvers too. Look closely at the 1911 shown in that photograph: it's a Valtro by John Jardine and one of the sweetest 1911s made. Click on the photo to see more Tucker holsters and enjoy. There are many handsome leather holsters and many serviceable leather holsters, but this one is my special favorite.

IWB - FIST 1A Hybrid. Kydex interior, leather exterior. My fifth one is on order now :)

OWB - Bianchi Carrylok or Snaplok - Have a couple different ones. Blade Tech for IPSC matches.

Pocket - DeSantis Nemesis

Shoulder holster/rig: Had an Uncle Mike's for a 1911. Not a good holster for too big a handgun (for me, anyway). However, a great way to carry with a smaller handgun if you normally wear a suit or sports coat.
Ankle holster: Have not looked, do not see it as a great option for me.
IWB: Got a couple...used 'em now and then but never liked reholstering a IWB holster
OWB: Got a Galco thumb break for Glock 17/19. Second most frequently mode of carry

Pocket: got two, a Galco and a Mikas for a snubby Taurus 85. Most frequent method to carry.
Slide Clips/Special Grips:Nope, don't have one

tucker IWB for my 642 S&W, very nice and comfy, galco OWB for my p2000 H&K. and a mika pockit holster also for my 642.:)

Shoulder holster/rig:Have an Uncle Mike's that I've used a few times.Works just fine, it's just that concealment isnt an issue in OR, so I just don't use it.I prefer OWB for several reasons.
Ankle holster: Have not looked, do not see it as a great option for me.
IWB: Cheapo Uncle Mike's IWB holster for my S&W 637.Dont carry IWB very often, and works fine for the rare occasions I IWB carry.
OWB: Vintage 70's leather S&W holter for my 637.Desantis "Top Cop" for my 1911.
Pocket:Cheapo Uncle Mike's IWB holster for my S&W 637 doubles as a pocket holster on occasion.Works pretty good too.
Slide Clips/Special Grips: dont have any, dont think I have a use for them.

left: S&W leather OWB circa 1970's (very solid, small, and comfortable, also nice and secure with the strap, but fast to get the gun out if needed...plus, leater just look, feels, ad sounds col and classy so...:D.I really like it) right is the DeSantis "Top Cop" (a really nice holster, I highly recommend it for 1911's.Very comfortable, good adjustble retention, stays close to the body, so it conceals a full-size gun well, and fast to clear the holster if needed.)Didnt bother putting the Uncle Mike's in the pic, as we all know what they look like...

I utilize a Don Hume IWB holster with a thumb break for my Colt Officer's Model. H715 M TB NO. 10 is what it has stamped into it. Its been so long since I bought the darn thing I don't remember the model.

I just bought a G36. My goal is to get holsters and actually carry this gun all day every day (I have never had the discipline to carry my 1911).

One thing I notic about threads like this. The holster pictured look BRAND NEW. I really want to see a holster that has been riding on someones hip every day for a couple of year.

Shoulder holster/rig: Ken Null's SMZ. Vertical rig. Upside-down placement of the gun. Excellent retention. I use a 4" K-frame, wear the thing for hours without trouble.
Ankle holster: Don't think I'll try it. Either I'm still growing or my pants legs are shrinking. Tried carrying a 1-lb knife, and it had a very awkward feel to it.
IWB: Doesn't seem to work for me. Being skinny may be bad for this mode of carry.
OWB: Haven't really tried it extensively. Just don't like the dead weight on my belt. It's much easier for the shoulders, IME.
Pocket: Being a cheapskate, I tuck a Beretta in an Ipod case. It works darned well.
Slide Clips/Special Grips: No experience, not much interest.

Shoulder holster/rig: Never tried one.
Ankle holster: Galco Ankle Glove
IWB: Comp-Tac
OWB: Don Hume JIT Slide...Its cheap, durable, simple and it doesnt have a custom leather waiting period.
Pocket: Galco Pocket Horsehide or DeSantis Nemesis
Slide Clips/Special Grips: None special to aid in carry/concealment.

IWB: Comp-Tac C-TAC for Glock 21SF with 1913 rail. I think this holster setup for a Glock 30 would be most excellent. Having a 21SF means longer barrel and a little discomfrot on occasion, but with a little less barrel even that would go away. Overall quality = 2 thumbs up!

Shoulder holster/rig: Never tried one, don't think I ever will, but ya never know.
Ankle holster: Never tried one, don't own a gun I consider small & light enough for that.
IWB: Really liked the tuckable Comp-Tac CTAC when I had a 1911. Before that I had a Blade-Tech IWB which was fine, but didn't conceal as nicely as the CTAC. It was quicker & easier to put on, though.
OWB: I have a Kydex Blade-Tech paddle holster for my IDPA revolver. Works fine for that but not very concealable, and the gun bounces around a bit more than I care for.
Pocket: As with the ankle holster, don't any any guns small enough -- my Ruger SP101 is 25 oz., and the grips I like are a little too big unless I go to cargo pants.
Slide Clips/Special Grips: I'm planning on getting an IWB for my Ruger for better security & stability, but 'til then, I use a Clipdraw every day, and I like it:

Ok, I'll play
shoulder holster/rig Had a few, never could get comfortable in them. However, I knew a female undercover police officer who used to say she wouldn't date a man who had not worn a shoulder holster, because they knew what it was like to wear a bra - never did figure that out.

ankle holster have owned two. Can be handy, one was an uncle mike cheapie - worked very well but the stitches failed. The other was a galco and I have good things to say about it.

IWB bianchi 3S is a good holster. very convenient for "stick it in your belt and get a jug of milk" runs. Allows you to stick to a single position for your defensive firearm.
OWB A good pancake holster is the choice for me, I vary between this and the IWB, weather, level of concealment and comfort being the deciding factors.
pocket There have been times when a small concealment pistol went into my pocket, but I cannot consider this a "Carry", for me, anyway.
slide clips/ special grips Fully admitting my ignorance in this area.

I gotta admit appendix carry makes me nervous too; I hang my SP101 on its Clipdraw just behind my right hip. Worst case I'll give myself a nasty but superficial butt wound. (Though I'm not too worried -- that gun has an "adrenaline-ready" 15-pound trigger.)

Shoulder holster/rig: Havn't tried one YET but I would like too

Ankle holster: Have not looked, do not see it as a great option for me.

IWB: www.andrewsleather.com Mc Daniels II I LOVE IT and I am skinny to boot. Works great under an untucked button up shirt hiding my 5" Kimber. I use it the most by far

OWB: I have a Ross Leather Stingray and a Donner Gun leather. Don Hume Jit Slide. Of the 3 OWB, I like the Donner the most.

Pocket Don't own one.

Slide Clips/Special Grips: I dont have any.

I do need a good IWB for my Kahr CW9 if anyone has one up for sale.

IWB: I've got this excellent convertable IWB/OWB for my 2" .38 from BlackHills Leather
Western style: Again a BlackHills Leather, California model, for my Redhawk
OWB : Tac-Pro Kydex for my 1911 and Glocks.

Well, I've just burned thru my entire planning period and my American History class will be rampaging thru the door in 15 minutes, but since you asked:

I love my CrossBreed IWB Super Tuck Deluxe if I hafta conceal a full size 9mm Sig P226 in hot south Florida weather. But when I compete in IDPA with the P226 I only use a BlackHawk "Serpa" model.

I also love all my Blade Tech IWBs and have easily fallen asleep while packing either a 45 or a 40 after coming home and vegging in my Lazy-Boy "Dad's chair."

For OWB I have several Sam Andrews rigs, including one of his shoulder rigs and a McDaniel's II that fits either my 1911s or my 9mm High Power.

I also favor the Galco "Concealable" model for strong side OWB.

Finally, there are times when the Humidity just gets too oppressive down here so I may wus out and opt for pocket carry of my M642 Smith in a Mika pocket holster OR I may carry a Sig P245 or a Glock M27 in a Galco Belly-Bag.

In any case, I've got a holster for nearly every occasion and wardrobe. I spend as much time figuring out which holster as my wife does picking HER outfit!

BTW, I don't often carry a mag holder unless I'm on a long trip. Around town, I usually stick a spare mag in my woolrich tactical pants "mag pocket" resting on each side of my leg just below the front pockets and above the cargo pockets.
