What's your favorite magazine loading tool?

the MagLULA looks pretty sweet, and I'm familiar with the Glock style, but is there anything I'm missing?

Clarification: I'm not asking what I should buy, I'm asking what's out there. Is there a crank fed out there? What about industrial scale magazine loaders with vibratory feeders and pneumatics?

I use my thumb.

The Glock loader I got with my Model 23 ended up folding double on me and I tore my thumbnail off on the feed lips.

I have an Maglula for AR-15 mags and it is really really slick!!
If the Uplula works half as good for pistol mags it would be the one to get!

I've used a MagLula for approximately 15,000 rounds over several pistols. It works very nicely and has held up. I wouldn't even want to try another kind as this one really works.

I can't believe that I waited as long as I did to get one for my AK's. The same loader will handle my -47, -74, and Galil mags. Fast and painless. Worth it at twice the price.

I would not own any magazine that requires more than a thumb to load.

I use the HKS mag loader. It does the job okay an was cheap.

I honestly bought the HKS because I couldn't pronounce Uplula or Maglula or whatever.

I shoot for work, and I have no problem loading a few hundred magazines a day. After a few days, ya start to wear holes through the callouses. We just finished an operation, and some of my techs were whining about their poor bloody thumbs, so I'm going to buy some mag loading tools. I'm trying to get an idea of what's out there, and want to buy a variety, because changing tools on a regular basis is a good way to avoid repetitive stress injuries.

We have a few of the bench mounted maglula for the STANAG mags. I'm looking for handgun mag loaders.

I would not own any magazine that requires more than a thumb to load.

I don't have a choice in the matter.

I think the Lula loaders are genius. I have one for AR15, one for AK, and the Uplula handgun mag loader. Super tools.

I have an Uplula moded for my CZ Kadet Mags. It's just 'cause you may shoot several hundred .22s in a day and it helps a lot.

After 50 years of loading by hand, I bought an UpLULA Universal Pistol Magazine Loader and it is everything positive anybody ever said about it.

The 15-round mags for my FNP-45 USG were wearing me out. I still load the rest of my mags by hand, but the loader was worth every penny for just this one gun.

Looks as if you folks convinced me to get one. Saw them on sale a few months back, wish I had bought then. Nonetheless, Ill pick one up off sale for the Handgun Mags.

Thanks for the input.

I use the Uplula to load .380ACP and larger handgun calibers. I have 2. One stays in my range bag; the other at my reloading bench. They make great gifts, except for those that insist on using their thumb.

I realize from the responses that you're not asking about .22LR loaders, but for the plinkers out there with Buckmarks and MK pistols the "Ultimate Cliploader" (don't flame me, I didn't name it) is worth its weight in gold. Even though it's plastic and wouldn't be that much gold, it's still way worth the $30 price tag.

The cliploader + a bunch of extra magazines can really chew through a box of bulk ammo.

One of my favorite mag loaders is the Mantis. I've carried one in my range bag for years.

I've got the UPLULA and agree it's a genius bit of design. Works much better than the Glock loader, even on the 33 round mags. But like the Glock loader it needs a solid surface to work against. For loading between IDPA stages when I'm usually kneeling on gravel I much prefer the HKS loaders and their thumb actuation, and that's what I keep in my range bag.

Plus, my first day out with an UPLULA I loaded about 600 rounds in Glock magazines ( the whole family was shooting) and basically wrecked my shoulder. That was a couple of years ago. I still can't use the Glock or UPLULA loaders for more than a couple of mags at a range session.

i attend a lot of training courses, and train, and shoot alot throughout the year, and i can't believe that i went so long without a lula mag loader they truely are awesome. i remember a time when i would go to 4 -5 days of handgun training without one and i would have a huge blister on my thumb, that is just no fun.

I got the mag loader that came with my Taurus pt145, I tried it a couple times, its in the cheap case the gun came in along with the cable lock and key lock thingies somewhere in the bottom of the closet. Its not that it didn't work, but I could just push them in there as fast with my hands and the .45 spread the force over a wider surface.

I grip the mag in my left hand bullets facing nose towards my right, push down on top round with left thumb then use next bullet in right hand to push it on down and back. I have loaded and shot some 9mm's that friends had and I gotta say they hurt my thumbs much more with the narrow bullets. (seriously not trying to poke fun at the 9mm i'd own a good mag loader if I had one)

For the AK, I hold it left handed primers down bullets up and snap them in with my right hand. Not really that hard to me either. Loaded 5 or 6 mags at a time before I begin to feel it in my hands and fingers

Same story with the Maglula. I have a carbine 9mm AR using 32 round Uzi mags. Couldn't get more then 4 rounds in it before I started cursing. Maglula changed my life...lol.

To give you an idea, we'll typically have four or five people loading and shooting, and we'll crank off about 500 magazines a day, for weeks on end. For major operations, we'll have a few people dedicated to loading magazines 12hrs/day for 2 months, but that's uncommon.

Has anyone carried on making the old RamLine X-Press? That thing looks like it would be the bees-knees if the plastic isn't crap (and in the 80's when they were made, it probably was)
