I'll try again

Thought I would ask guys out there to share hunting pics and stories. This is my favorite rimfire; a Remington 541S with a Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8X along with the results of an early fall hunt in the best squirrel woods in Kansas last year. I have killed 100s of squirrels with this rifle. I periodically take my 17 HMR, but I always return to this rifle. Of all my guns, this is my favorite. I have hunted squirrels for close to 60 years.I am encouraging you all to share your pics

My favorite game is waterfowl. I'm in the middle with my H&R 10 gauge. I have other favorite shotguns for other feathered game. The 10 is a specialty gun for me, geese, maybe turkey if I ever get another chance to hunt 'em. This was the result of a snow goose hunt a few years ago.

I have too many "favorites" but the one I seem to be picking up the most is a T/C Contender in 204 Ruger. The scope is a Leupold 2-7X, a VX II if I remember correctly.

One of two coyotes taken with bang flop neck shots.

Raccoons and groundhogs have also fallen to the rifle.

A shot I won a bet with

Here's another....It is my Remington 700 VLS .243 with a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14X. My brother bet me I couldn't make a head shot at a bit under 200 yds. As you can see, my brother bought me a steak that night.
Hey, I love that T/C .204.

I sure do love to see an old Mauser still earning it's keep! But in .30-06 isn't there some kind royal decree against using something so American over in the UK?;)

And of course my two favorite riflers are both of finest British pedigree! Go figure.

My first place favorite rifle is this M-70 in 375H&H with which I’ve taken multiple hundred head of game. The majority of which are feral hogs. But she’s also done service in Alaska and Africa as you can see

Interloc, that stock looks like the Ramline I put on my Savage 110 7 mag. It free floats and gave me a little less vertical stringing on my groups, improved accuracy. It's kinda noisy in the brush, but I like it. That gun just had a crappy stained hardwood stock on it.

And, regardless of what Leupold fan boys might suggest, Bushnell Trophy is good glass. I have one on a .22 mag, clear and bright and with a focus ring.

Hey H&H,

Those are fantastic pictures...thanks for sharing. I don't hunt big game; my brothers does and has taken many deer, elk, bears, mountain lion, and several species in Africa, most of them with a .300 Weatherby mag. I'll share these pics with him. He'll get a kick out of them.

My favorite rifle is a custom on a Mauser DWM action with a 22" 30-06 octagon barrel.

It's stock is well figured walnut with good checkering. I got the rifle about a year ago and its the best made rifle that I have had. I have been handloading, hunting, target shooting and collecting since 1953 and have old M70's, Brno's, Sauer etc.

It has a Leu. 2.5-8 in Conetrol mounts on it now. Pictures show Redfield mounts and the 2-7 Leu it came with. It's safety is the three position M70 type that I prefer.

The rifle weighs 8 lbs and stays sighted in and makes excellent groups.

I have got some pests making good shots and then a buck with it last fall.

At the range last May 4th it was right on at 200 yds which is what I record and want most. Of late I have been shooting two shot groups with sporters as that's enough, in my view, if the rifle stays sighted in. Shooting Nosler Combined Tech. 150 gr bullets over RL-15 it made a 1.25" group.

An upscale scope is being considered.

Thanks H&H. While I have some fine old M70's and other customs made for me this is the best made rifle I have ever owned.

Here is a picture of a buck I got with it at 280 yds shooting the Berger 155 VLD Hunting bullet.

we dont really count Americans as foriegners, colonials maybe--- ;-) the mauser is a german designed action made in Belgium. the barrel is spanish. that stock has now gone... it now has another non descript plastic number on. The ramline cracked. the trigger is an american timney, the bolt body is a parker hale santa barbera.... and i use IMI brass with Viht powder and hornady bullets.... truly an international thorough bred.

i love the cape buffalo shots. when i am a full grown man i will shoot one of them.

Hey Interlock,

Liked the pics of the roe buck. My brother lived in Germany for 6 years and shot lots of roe bucks. He has a large collection of horns on his wall, mostly shot with a Sako .223; really fine gun.

Cape buffalo are like potato chips. You can't have just one.

I remember thinking that I'd like to shoot a buffalo once in my life that was about 5 buffalo ago. Cape Buffalo are the crack cocaine of hunting.;)

Dunno why, but I'd love to hunt one.

Cape buffalo are the essence of a game animal. They are smart, they see well, they hear well, they are 100% dialed in at all times, they demand a perfect stalk, they demand a perfect shot, they live in awesome country, they stand for no nonsense and will gladly kill you given the opportunity.

Cape buffalo are one of the most worthy game animals on the planet. That's the "why" for me.
