This is not a poll of all available Smith & Wesson .357 revolvers. I'm just interested in everybody's favorite based on this particular group.

Basically, do you prefer shooting .38/.357Mag out of a K, L or N frame.

I have members from each size in my collection, but cannot garner a favorite at this time. I'm curious how everyone else feels.

I've had an L-frame 686+, which was a sweet gun; and I have a couple of N-frames, though not in 357 (and, though it's not among your choices, I have a 357 J); and I have to say that the little K fits so nice in my hand, and points so well, and is so daggum accurate, I never come away from shooting it without thinking it's my favorite.

Mine is a 4", and I will say I wish it was a 3, because I CCW it occassionally. If I didn't do that, or want to shoot IDPA with it, I'd take a 6". Even so, it is just a fantastic little gun. But really, they all are.

Of course, it depends to some extent what you shoot. If I felt like I had to shoot nothing but 125 gr. magnums, then I'd go with the L or N; I don't like that load, myself. A K feels like just enough gun for the caliber, ya know?

The Model 13 3'bbl in blue or nickel.
I don't need or want adjustable sights on a defensive gun. :D

favorite smith and wesson .357 revolver

I've shot alot of diffrent Smith .357's. The model 19's and 66's are really sweet but i guess my favorite is the only one i currently own, a 6 inch Highway Patrolman. Eats heavy loads like there candy.

M19 all the way, followed by the M13. No reason at all for a 357 to be any larger, and the balance and handling are far better than the larger guns.

Of those listed....

I would go with the 27. It will handle any serious .357 Magnum loading, and sucks up recoil.

My second choice would be the 19. They are just so nimble handling. Come to think of it, I don't have a 19 these days. I really have to remedy that.

I like the L frames, too. But they are a compromise.

I voted for the M-27, even though mine is really a 28-2. Second would probably be the 3" M-13 I bought for my wife.

That's odd, the .44spl 1950 Target is your favorite .357magnum S&W- I didn't know they made .44spl in .357mag:neener:

OK, in answer to the question, my favorite is my 3" S&W 65LS. On the list I went with the M19 since my 4" M19 is second. Just something about a nice K-frame.

I voted for the 27, but I also own and shoot two Mod 19's and a 586. It's difficult to pick a favorite, but since I own 4 N-Frame S&W .357's, I had to go with the 27. They're all great designs.

A very good compromise.

This one's easy. I've had a 27, 6" for almost 20 yrs. Use it strictly for target shooting and plinking. My 686P, in 4", I keep mainly as a defensive arm. They both seem well-suited to their purposes. Given the choice of the two, if I had to drop one? Tough - but I'd stick with the 686. It's simply an awesome gun.

Ciao.
