Lewis & Clark got along without it. So did Samuel Morse, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford , Alexander Graham Bell, John Browning, Albert Einstein, Enrico Fermi, and Fibber McGee and Molly! :D

We can all make it without this illusionary substitute for a real life. How did we communicate ,interact and reach out before this Dragon which devours its young appeared in 2003? And Instagram and the abominable Twitter?

Go back to that world. It was a better one. Flame suit on! ;)

People got along with firearms, too.

Or antibiotics.

Or cell phones.

Or the world wide web just what the heck are you doing on THR anyway?!

That was SATIRE, Warp. I just knew I'd have to come back and explain it in detail. Frank Ettin warned me about it 2 weeks ago! :neener:

But I still got Georgia on my mind. Thanks,Ray.

The 2A is very important to me. Along with my loved ones, it is the most important objective in my life. But having a sense of humor and being remindful of the inanity of this crazy world is important too. Very important.

At this moment ,and until the very end of our lives, we are all in this circus and on this stage together, as Shakespeare aptly said over 400 years ago.

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages."

William Shakespeare

I do not have an account and I never will. There is nobody that I cannot call or E-mail. I have listened to people extol the virtue of using the Facebook for everything. Of course I have also heard all the horror stories. Honestly I simply don't have the time.

The younger gen actually doesn't even do Facebook to a large degree (teenagers see FB as something for "old people" lol)

I can attest to that fact. Thus spoke the fruit of my loins, with the great wisdom that comes with being a teenager: "Dad, no one uses FaceBook any more. It's just for old people and stalkers," accompanied by the obligatory eye-roll.

They're all over Instagram and Snapchat though. Perhaps I'm naive but they don't seem that bad... yet.

They have a new invention called Armslist.:) Driving 45 min. today to sell a surplus Polish (P-83) handgun FTF. Two years ago bought a WW2 Mauser handgun via Armslist.

But Facebook? Other than to help a personal business grow or operate a social club (Meet Up) etc, no thanks. Never had it. Who would want to read about the boring details of My life?
You've got to be kidding. That's what a telephone is for. If they can't be bothered to call, then they are not really interested in what we are doing. It's All About Them...

Having a FB Group change it's status from private to secret is no real indication of anything--other than how much spam the admins are cooping with. Or trolls.

Shoot my university alumni page is now secret, just to control the spam.

I occasionally hear about "garage sale" pages on FB; however, half the time the person relaying this actually means Craigslist.

Funny, my main source for buying/selling/trading guns, parts and accessories and/or sharing information with other gun owners is shut down to appease Obama and the gun banners and the response from the gun community at large..."Meh, I don't use it anyway so who cares...good riddance".

These liberals are ruining this country. They're making this generation and future generations weak and sissified.

I live in an area with a lot of rural territory. Armslist never has crap for listings in my state. There are a number of FB gun sales groups here, all being run by exemplary mods who keep right on top of things. Private ftf sales between individuals is legal in my state so the groups are incredibly active. I myself have made some nice deals face to face because of it. We have one FFL who is reporting a post that has been rejected since last night. What I have read is that FB will start by scanning for groups. I sincerely doubt that locking down a group as secret will fly under the radar of FB themselves.

Yes it's just another lame maneuver by someone lacking any spine, and indeed FB is a privately held entity and the owner has every right to do as he wishes.

But every flake of paint that falls off a house adds to the general disrepair of that shelter, and if not corrected will accumulate and cause it to collapse.

It's not ok to just shrug and say oh well. Turning the other cheek only makes the bully bolder.

Hard to post pics and videos of the grand-kids over a telephone.

Some people are happy to settle for speaking only on occasions when all parties involved can be on the phone at the same time

A 'shrug and oh well' is all we can do. If you are using FB to communicate you will continue to because everyone will not move elsewhere; boycott threats are known to be hollow. There is no legislation to fight or propose, no legal avenue to pursue. There is nothing we can do about it except say 'oh well, was good while it lasted' and use one of the already existing replacements. Complaining about it when nothing will change just keeps it in the news for more propaganda value.

A group that might want to reconsider their actions are the gun business that only communicate through FB. Business that have minimal or no web presence, no email or other marketing, only a FB page are utterly dependent on FB. It is used by too many people for any retail trade to ignore but they have come down against us, putting all your eggs in their basket is risky.
