The FBI decided yesterday to seek the public's help by offering a $25,000 reward.

isnt this another government sponsored snitch program? turn in an illegal gun owner blah blah blah....where are all the guys were against the NYC snitch program...arent you guys against someone turning in someone for having a stolen submachine gun?

Its a waste of taxmoney is what it is. A lot of the buybacks are done my private groups with donations.

So yes it is. I dont care if it was a submachinegun they lost or a handgun. The point is the agent who lost it should be forced to purchase the new ones. And he should pay the same price I pay for one.

Haha great stuff. Reminds me of the air marshal that left her handgun in the airport toilet. Up here in canada our "intelligence" branch CSIS had an agent go to a Maple Leafs hockey game and leave her briefcase with Top Secret Canadian Super-Spy Info. in her car. Sure enough, all gone. Oh Noes ! All of our canadian secrets are out and aboot eh !

I would think that an FBI van would be a little more secure. I've seen vans from electronics companies that have dual locks (gates inside the van) that make it harder to break into.

Same thing happened around LA area a couple months ago. An mp5 and something else was stolen, I forget from what type of cop but I think it was normal PD that had it in the trunk.

The theft triggered an intensive search for the property and whoever took it. The FBI decided yesterday to seek the public's help by offering a $25,000 reward

great...when my wife's car was broken into it triggered an "Yeah you and 5 others on your block...ya wanna file a report?" search for my property and whomever took it.

I can imagine what would happen if I had a legal machine gun, and left it in my car, and some enterprising gang member decided to take it.
I would probably never see the light of day again.

I wouldn't keep anything in my vehicle that I couldn't afford to lose. I've had my F150 broken into twice for the radio...TWICE IN 42 DAYS!!!!! This was at a place I worked part time. Needless to say, I don't work there anymore.

My point is, unless special measures are taken(doors welded shut, etc) vehicles are not secure!!!

Of all the people that should be aware of the crime rate in a place like DC an FBI agent should be the last person to leave weapons unattended in a vehicle.
Just curious; but if a gunowner here posted that his locked and alarmed vehicle was broken into and the locked security containers inside the vehicle were broken into, would we characterize it as "Gunowners arm street criminals!"?
In rural Montana I would be shocked they got stolen. In DC I would be shocked that the owner didn't think the risk they could be stolen wasn't too great to leave them in the vehicle.

Location, Location, Location - Even the good parts of DC are too close to the bad parts, IMHO.

The risk in places like DC are common knowledge and this agent should have considered it. I would assume this vehicle is likely parked outside his residence often if not every night. It's just a matter of time until someone distasteful figures out what he does for a living and that he has a bureau issued vehicle and that there could be some "cool" stuff in there.
