A shooting buddy brought some to the league last night. He let me shoot some of it. Comes in 325 round little milk cartons. Not HV, but higher than SV. Cycles my M41 better than Aquila SV does.

He said only WalMart sells it and not all WalMarts have it.

Anyone else every heard of it?

I use it and it works just fine. It's fairly clean and works in my Ruger 10/22 and 22/45.
I've bought some frmo Dick's Sporting Goods in NC a year or two ago.

I like the Fed Auto Match as well as the Win Dynapoints for bulk ammo.

this is good .22 ammo. i like it alot better then the equivelent remington 36 gr offering.

my wife bought a ton of these at cabellas on sale and they the only round that has ever been fired out of her new p22, so i guess they work.

We use the Federal AutoMatch (when we can get it) for Steel Challenge with our P22 or S&W 22A. Since it's ~600 rounds a match for the two of us we try to get economical, but quality, ammo. Seems like the AutoMatch has been out of stock at Midway forever so my last batch of 5k was Federal Champion Target and it works fine, at a slightly lower cost. Can't say the extra cost of the Champion Target is justified or not since all we do is shoot 10" or larger steel plates at less than 50 yards.

Champion Target 5000 rounds $178.99 or $0.036ea
AutoMatch 3250 rounds for $131.99 or $0.041ea

Prices are from MidwayUSA

I've shot a lot of it in a Browning Buckmark and a Beretta Neos. I've only had 1 "dud", which fired when I rotated it and tried again. It feeds very reliably in those two pistols. I like it. I do find mine at Walmarts, can't say for sure that's the only place that you can find it.

The shop I gunsmith for has had the stuff on order for quite a while.
Nobody else has the stuff andf I don't do WalMart.
Most ammunition is getting harder and harder to get ahold of and it is expensive when you can get it.

I noticed this for the first time last week at Wallmart. It groups better than the bulk Federal I buy most times, but not nearly as well as Aguila Match Pistol.

I have been shooting it from a rest out of a Hi Standard Supermatic and CZ 75 with .22 conversion.

Hey I Use Federal Ammo In My Ruger 10/22 Carbine M1 Model Itd Pretty Good Ammunition A Few Jams Here And There But Good Ammo I Use The Hollow Tips. I Would Rate This Ammo At About An 8 If U Told Me Too. Its Fairly Cheap And Does A Good Job. I Dont Men To Get Off The Topic, But Might I Suggest Cci .22 Stinger Rounds. They Are Slightly Longer But Will Work In Any 22 Lr 32 Grain, But They Have Alot More Power And A Better Sound, Overall For 22lr And I Shoot These Alot I Would Prefer
1. Cci
2. Winchester
3. Remmington
4. Federal
This Is Just My Opinion But Seriously Try The Cci They Are A Little More Expensive Matter Of Fact Pretty Expensive, But You Will Not Be Unpleased With This Type Of Ammunition

It's replaced Win. Super X in my squirrel rifle.

I used to use the grey box of Win. .22LR, the Super X stuff. They had one too many recall for my taste, so I switched ammo. The Fed. AutoMatch groups extremely well in my Marlin bolt rifle. Dime sized groups at 25 yards, not quite one holers.

I really like Federal Auto Match. Works great and is quite accurate.

I have the local indoor range order it for me a couple cases at a time. He gets it from any one of several ammo suppiers.

IIRC... last time I bought, it was around $11 per box.

i picked up a box at my local walmart. Took it to the range and was supprised at the accuracy...until my Buckmark Kaboom'd. It's currently at a Gunsmith for review/repair.

Federal Automatch

I just bought some from Scheels, they had some priced at $5.99 and some priced at $14.99. I bought all six boxes at $5.99. I haven't shot any yet but read nothing but good things about it.

It is now a habit - needed something that would cycle my auto 22's without fail - have to go to Walmart? - have to buy a couple boxes of Federal Auto Match!

OK, so this is 15 bucks for 325 rds? I am picking up a S&W M41 this week with a 5" and 7 1/2" brl. I am not sure of age or anything like that but the guy I am getting it from said it was his grandfathers that just passed away. Who knows.

Thanks for the heads up, I will go by Chinamart tomorrow.

My Browning Buckmark eats it like candy. More accurate than the other Federal bulk at Wallyworld, so I buy all I can afford.

Just picked some up at at WM. $15 per box(325)

This thread lives....

Has anyone shot this ammo in a Spikes dedicated .22 upper?? How was the function, accuracy, etc.

I know this is in the handgun section...but I had to ask....

My Browning Buckmark eats it like candy.

Mine too. I also use Auto-Match in bolt action rifles--Biathlon Basic, Sako Finnfire, and Mossberg 144 LSA.

There was a bad lot of Auto-Match a year or so ago. The boxes had 20-25% underpowered rounds. Not quite squibs, but they just went "poof" and dropped rapidly after leaving the barrel. I had four boxes of this stuff and Federal replaced it at "2 for 1 +1"--they sent me nine boxes in total. I'm not complaining.

Federal Auto-Match and 510 are pretty much the only rimfire ammo I use nowadays. It's decent ammo at a reasonable price. I'm not a serious enough rimfire shooter to spring for the really good stuff.

well I ran into 2 boxes of this today at Wally world so I picked them up. I will try them out in all my toys in the morning. $14.99 for 325 rounds.
