Situation- I know this guy who is former Air Force from a country I won't disclose. (Pilot) he is retired, living in South Dakota & is a private pilot for some rich guy. He is here on a green card & he's been waiving around a "Federal Concealed Carry" badge. I did my research & from what I gathered, this "permit" is only availible to current or former LEO's. So.... with that being said, I'm trying to figure out weather or not this fella pulled this badge out of a cracker jack box or if it might be legit? He'd have to be awefully connected for it to be legit & if you knew this guy, you'd question it too. He's an epic tool. Thoughts?

LEOs and former LEOs that qualify, can legally carry conceal throughout the USA via the LEOSA of 2004.

As for a "Federal concealed carry permit"...
BATFE FAQ said:
Q: Does the Federal Government issue a license or permit to carry a concealed weapon?

No. Neither ATF nor any other Federal agency issues such a permit or license. Carrying permits may be issued by a State or local government.

There is LEOSA but there are no "Federal Conceal Carry Permit". Federal LEO agencies generally are exempt from State Gun Laws. However there is supposed to be professional courtesy when some agency comes into a jurisdiction they should inform the local authorities as I understand it.

Sounds like BS to me. All current and retired LEO are able to carry in the US under the Federal HR 218 carry law. As far as a Federal Carry Badge, none that I am aware of.

I don't know of any Federal Angency that would give someone a badge that says they are aloud to carry. They too would be covered under the above bill if they were a current or retired FLEO.

If anyone finds out something different, please let me know, thanks.

Pure BS as has been stated.

Federal agencies are expemt from all State Gun laws. As far as notifying a local agency this is generally done only when there is a planned enforcement action that is going to take place. No one wants the Feds serving a warrant to wind up in a gunfight with the local PD who may think its a home invasion.
