my wife absolutely loves my AR. She shoot 10s and Xs at 100 yards with it.

Good idea.
A fellow employee (with whom I've worked) lives on land between New Albany and Holly Springs, MS. She heard two guys riding horses and shooting at deer etc on her property, which supposedly has clear signs.
She approached them with her M-1 Carbine with a large mag. and told them to leave. This lady is from Texas and means what she says.

Since M-1 Cs are not on the list, and if the list is totally inflexible, my vote is for the Mini 14 (only with the best mag.) if she really likes it.

I vote AR or Mini. AR isn't complicated unless your teaching her to disassemble which is unnessisary for the first range trip.

AK is a little nasty with the recoil.
Im 135 lbs and not super fond of AK as a plinker. Fun gun dont get me wrong but wouldn't choose that as a first.
