I found strange and a little deceiving knowing that the ATF knows who is current or not. I had a Vermont State Police detective stop by with a list, which he wouldn't let us see, and stated that the ATF had asked the VSP to travel through the county and verify the FFL numbers on the license and if they are current.
I think it was BS since we do enough transfers and sales that the ATF knows we are current, we also just renewed our FFL 3 months ago. We complied, no reason not too, and asked if he would like to come in and check out the shop.
Then he makes the comment "he could come in if he wanted" ????. He's state and would need a warrant, I understand ATF could at any time but not a local unless they have a warrant. I didn't want to cause an abrasive situation so I didn't say anything about CFR 27 and who can conduct inspection with out a warrant. Anyone else run into this.
If you know Vermont VSP they aren't going to do the ATF's job unless ATF is paying their OT and the VSP has enough on their plate that I can't see them giving up a detective's time drive all over the county.
